Hello everyone!

Well I am starting getting my 1st snake in years on Friday. Im getting a Ghost Corn that i've been drooling over for a long time. I've got the tank all see up (mins heat pad im getting friday) and im super excited!!!

My question is, I (when was younger) had multiple corns in one tank at a time. I know thats a no no now and wont do it again. But most members on the forum have several corns, how do you house them all and where in your house do you do it? Im going o a few reptile expos in the fall hoping to finda amel strip/mot and i wish i knew an easier way.

Right now tank is a 40gal palace for my ghost.

thanks guy! IM ADDICTED TO DIFFERENT COLOUR CORNS!

Here's how I house my 23 snakes... as you can see, I'm running out of room even with 3 racks! My friend is building me another one, just in time for a BP clutch that's due to hatch any day. ;)

We use Animal Plastics racks and stacking cages. One thing with rack purchases that we've found out the hard way-- buy the bins FIRST and then have them build your rack. We had to make do with smaller bins in the latest rack, and that means only adult or near-adult sized snakes can go into them. :(

Although I hate how my one rack (far left) requires using lids, I love the fact that it's "convertible" with four different sizes - fitting Sterilite 41, 28, 15 AND 6qt tubs without a problem. My friend is building me a new rack this week, and I'm having it made with those same dimensions... minus the added lid height, since I want this one to be lidless. Custom racks are the best! ;)

Looks effective but how to do you manage heating each tank? I live in a basement that relatively cold always.

Flexwatt! It's basically a heat tape, but you have to wire it yourself. When I first heard about this, I was like, ack, I'm no electrician! But I have my first Flexwatt arriving today and me and the bf are gonna give it a go on Sunday. It's apparently not that hard. There's instructions that come with it and many YouTube videos to help you through it. You can use a regular heating pad under each bin, but it's cheaper to get the flexwatt. The trick is that you have to regulate the temps to under 85 and then it's safe to use with the plastic bins.

I started with tanks, then I went to tanks on a plastic shelving system. Each shelf could hold two tanks, then went to racks. I found these from a guy a few hours away. He was listng them on craigslist. This is an older picture but you get the idea. I also just picked up the ARS7010 from someone off of craigslist as well (second picture) it doesn't really blend with the white racks and I am not sure where I am going to put it yet. (it's sitting empty in the basement) but it is an absolute awesome rack system. The quality is just superb. It has always been waaaayyyy to easy for me to pick up another snake, LOL, so I had to come up with more housing space.

Display is what's probably going to keep me from getting too many snakes. i want them all in nice, decorated, 20 gal long vivs, which is quite pricey. I don't really have a place that I could keep racks, except my garage, and since I won't be having racks just hanging around in my house, I guess I'm limited to about 4. Luckily I only have 1 right now so I still have 3 more to pick! I already have my next one picked, a baby male coral snow.

28 qt

Adult corns are usually kept in 28 qt tubs. Just make sure if you ever do build a rack to buy ALL the tubs first.

I have bought and built racks over the years for my snakes, then decided that I would rather just have a few that I can see and enjoy than many in drawers.

If you breed, racks are a must.

I will never allow myself to get "out of control" with my snake population again where I NEED racks.

But it is OH so tempting when I see one available somewhere LOL.

I house mine in racks that i have built my self I have my adults in 41qt tubs. my hatchlings in 6 qt tubs. I will be building a rack for my yearlings and sub adults using 28 qt tubs. The reason I use bigger tubs is to give the snake more room to move around. Im also able to put hides in there for them so they feel more secure.

Yep, I use Flexwatt on every shelf, connected to a total of 3 thermostats. Oh, but you don't actually have to wire it yourself! Just buy the "wire/clip/insulator set" when ordering the tape from RBI (for an extra $5), and they connect it for ya. ;)

So would you go 6qt for a hatchling, 16 for sub adult, and 28 for adult?

Pretty much... but it also depends on the rack you're using (different ones fit different sizes/brands), and the actual size of the snake. I keep my babies in 6qt, juvies in 15qt, and all but one adult are in 30(?)qt tubs - Dash is too big even for the 30, so she gets a 41qt instead.

Btw, some people say you shouldn't house corns and pythons together, due to their different husbandry needs... but I've kept both species together quite successfully! I just have them strategically placed - most of the corns are on bottom shelves (since heat rises), lidded tubs are pulled out slightly for less contact with the Flexwatt, and I put as many corns as possible in the back-heat (middle) rack. Once my new rack is finished, I'm actually planning to make that rack entirely for corns. Anyway, just wanted to mention that it can be done! :)
