Hey everyone, I was just wondering, what do you use to weigh your snake? Because by the looks of the Munson Plan it needs to be accurate to the gram. The reason behind this question is I need to know when to move my Corn up to double pinks. He's coming 7 months and by the looks of other Corns at this age I think he's normal size. I've been feeding him a single pinkie every 5 days

Any advice would be appreciated, thanks

Idon't know how much scales are in UK, but pretty inexpensive in US. At 7 months you snake should be eating fuzzies. How often so you feed?

Once every five days, but I got him when he ws 6 months old and I think they only fed him once a week, so he's a bit behind in the size department. I have like 6 more pinks, so I'll let him finish those then I'll try him with a fuzzy.

You could step him up with double pinks before going to fuzzies. Mines around 4months and he is on fuzzies every 6 days at the mo.
 
I bought some 5Kg digital scales off ebay for five pounds, its small and easy enough to stick in a draw.
 
Okay thanks everyone for your advice, I bought a set of digital scales today. Salazar weighed in at 16g, now I think he's underweight (he's not skinny by any means, no bones protruding or anything), because the shop was only feeding him a single pinkie once a week.

Following the Munson Plan I should be able to try him on double pinks, which is something I'll do on Thursday.
 
Yeah he really needs to be bulked up if he really is seven months old hes not much bigger than a hatchling really.
But if it makes you feel any better I got my snake when she was 8 months old and she was only 24g she's a year old now and pushing 100g once you get them on fuzzies they really bulk up.
 
I know it sounds odd, but I weigh each batch of mice and put them into labelled freezer bags (1g reds, 2g pinks, 3g, 4g etc).It takes a little bit of time but makes it easier to feed my snakes the right size of prey.
My hatchlings and the 2 I bought were on pinks every 4 days and have quickly reached 15 grams and bumped to double pinks this week (3-4g now per feed)
Yours should start to grow faster now, I weigh each snake on the first feeding day of each month, as any sooner is too variable by whether they need to poop or not!
 
Thanks both, oh and Jenn, I think he's actually 5 months old, I rang the shop and asked for an exact date. But yeah, I'll try him on double pinks and hopefully he'll start to bulk up.
 
I don't think 16g at 5 months is bad at all. More normal actually, for a snake at a pet store or with a breeder.

My 2 pewters I got 2 weeks after birth, are now just over 2 months and weigh still 9g and 12g. It's slow growth when they are on the tiny pinks, and the smaller one, the female, regurged her first meal so that set her back a little.
 
Ahh I see, well yeah, now that he's moving on to bigger and better things he'll hopefull start bulking up a little lol.
