How long do corns live for averege??? and do corns need a light in there tank or viv??? would a desk lamp near the tank do??? badly need 2 know...
 
No need for a light, natural daylight is fine. Remember not to have the tank in full sun, like under a window. Heats up fast.
 
If you have a tall viv, a spotlight as a heat source higher up can be useful. Make sure it's always well-guarded and the snake can't get anywhere near the bulb.

I would STRONGLY advise you get hold of a copy of The Corn Snake Manual by Bill and Kathy Love. This will answer all your questions and more. It is available from Amazon.

Get yourself in the know BEFORE you go out and get a snake.
