how long is a shedding period?

Well my okeetee hasent shed for three months, and finally monday night i noticed she was going into blue.. I was really excited, and then i gave her a bath on wednesday thinking she would shed thursday, but she still hasent shed... Should i just give her one more bath tonite, just to ensure she has a good shed? I also sprayed her tank with warm water to up humidity just a bit.. How long until she sheds? Her eyes arent blue anymore. Dont they shed one to two days after their eyes turn back to normal? thanks for any answers.

If she went into blue on Monday that means she probably stayed in blue until at least Wednesday. So, after she goes out of blue it will take about three days for her to shed (maybe Saturday or Sunday). She will shed, just relax.

I give Cyrus a bath everyday after blue until he sheds, but I do this because I have a difficult time with his humidity here in Denver over winter.

Why do you bath your corns when they are about to shed? Do you really have to do that? I´ve never heard of it before. I know that it´s good to spray some water in the tank for an easier shedding, but never give the snake a bath. I´m just very curious ;)

I bath him because I struggle with humidity here in Colorado....especially in the winter. I have had 4 sheds with Cyrus since I brought him home and the first two were in pieces. The third one was OK except some was left on the tip of his tail. So, I heard someone else on here say that when they are having trouble with humidity they bathed their snake so I thought I would give it a go after blue but before shed. Man, I had an amazing shed.....one whole piece! It was gorgeous!

I sprayed his viv regularly....no help. I put a humid hide in and he hates it. I even rolled up wet towels and laid them around the inside of his viv and that still didn't help! So, bathing it is. I fill a sterilate bin (shoe box size) about 3/4 inch to 1 inch of water and let him go for a dip! He seems to like it OK. Swims back and forth, back and forth! I do this for about 15 minutes a day until he sheds. I do wait until after blue, Cyrus likes to just chill while in blue.

So theres my long answer to your short question! ;-)

I have a couple bath questions because I think mine's about to shed..

1. she's still a hatchling, so how much water should I put into the bowl she'll bathe in?
2. is it okay for her to swim underwater?
3. how long should the baths be?
4. should i rub her down gently too or just leave her to swim?
5. can i just use room temp. tap water or does it have to be distilled?

thanks in advance! =.>

1. Just about a 1/2 an inch or so. Make sure the little guy can easily lift his head above water and keep it above water if he so chooses. Make sure his body is submursed, but his head MUST be able to come up easily.

2. Cyrus ducks under now and again, but usually he keeps his head above the water. If he can come up whenever he wants don't worry about him ducking under now and again.

3. I give him about 15-20 minutes everyday from when he gets out of blue and until he sheds. With Cyrus this is about 3 days....yours may be shorter or longer.

4. I don't rub Cyrus down......I just let him play. When I take him out I do dry him off before putting him back in his viv.

5. We have filtered water so that is what we use. The water is room tempreture. REMEMBER, if it is luke warm to you it will be hot, hot, hot to your snake.

Hope this helps!

I thinkt it was an excellent answer to my little (stupid) question! ;) We don´t have the same problem here in sweden, so that might be the reason I´ve never heard of it.

Thanks! :D
