How much to feed

What is the normal amount to feed a baby corn snake? The one I had in college was larger and ate rat pinkies. How many mice pinkies will my baby eat and how often?

Hi Blaze - I'm from Michigan too. Depending on your snake's size, I would guess 1 to 2 pinkies every 5-7 days. Have you read the Corn Snake Manual by Bill & Kathy Love? Their tip is to choose a mouse 1 to 1 1/2 times the size of the thickest part of your snake. You can also let the snake decide if she wants 1 or 2 pinkies. The Corn Snake Manual is a must read!

3 pinkies twice a week? That's how much my yearling (little under 2 feet) can handle. Sounds like too much.

I feed 1 pinkie every 5 days to my smallest hatchling (12") and one big pinkie (like a hairless fuzzie) to my slightly larger hatchling (14" or so) every 5 days.

Careful...

Too-large meals can cause regurgitation.
I'd have to see the size of the snake as well as the pinkies you are planning to feed it in order to give my honest opinion, but if it is a typical tiny hatchling, two pinkies a week would be pushing it, let alone three.

Normally my hatchlings are eating 1 or 2 pinkies (of various sizes) per week for about 8-12 weeks. After that its 1-2 fuzzies weekly untill theyre about 5-6 months along. By then normally all of them are on various sizes of hoppers. Within 8-12 months old if size permits theyre on small mice. Some stay on hoppers alot longer than others. Thats in my collection anyway... Size really determines it though...

That's odd- Arty is a very big snake for her age. She's 27 inches and only eight months old. By this age, some of your snakes are on small mice but Arty will still be on fuzzies for another month or two (she's got 43 to eat before she can start on the hoppers I've bought her) even though she's a complete pig!!

I think the general feeding ammount is around 2/3 pinkies every 5 days/ a week, then move upto fuzzies after about 2 months of continuous feeding of this size meal.

When I bought Arty at a month old I fed her one pinky on Wednesday and another on Saturday (if she had defecated). This seemed to work fine and she never had any problems with digestion or anything, but she's always been a very good eater.
