Am very sorry but this thread is much like the last...In any case,I was wondering exactly how much I should be feeding my amels. They were hatched on the 27th july 05,and have been chomping their way through 1 pinkie every five days and haven't missed a meal. They have also shed twice, but only once since I have got them.I always feed separately and in substrate free containers.Last night I fed them and was amazed by the fact from start to finish it took them both less than 4 minutes to completely swallow thier pinkies. After this I noticed that when the pinkies had left the neck area that it was hardly noticeable that they had been fed. Both were also very active after I returned them to thier boxes.I am not sure how long they are,I would hazard a guess at between 13,14 inches long..Any thoughts on this?Should they be on two yet? :shrugs: V

My snake did that very thing two weeks ago. From reading this forum and talking to the owners of the pet store I get my feeders from, I found out that they act that way because indeed they are still hungry. So I would say yes move them up to either 2 pinkies or 1 fuzzy. I went the single fuzzy way because it was convenient for me. Either way you choose to go, they need a bigger meal to be satisfied. The bigger meal for Jake seems to satisfy him alot more and he seems a lot calmer and is not looking for food constantly.

They are very voracious eaters, for which I am truly glad after reading up on here about problem feeders etc.The only problem I have with my two is I can't get the food in quick enough!I was thinking about feeding them a single pinkie every four days instead of five,as they are now out most nights cruising about,Scylla took her time but now enjoys a nightly jaunt. They were very active last night after I fed them, but thinking on this there is a weather front coming and I've read that snakes are very sensitive to barometric changes,so it could of been that...But in any case, there was hardly a visible lump when about a third of the way down, which is why I thought they maybe needed bumping up a bit?I don't want to power feed or anything but I thought that if there was no visible lump then it should be ok to give them 2 pinks maybe once a week instead of one every five days???Are they a bit young to do this???Cheers!V
