how often do they shed

i know this sounds like a stupid question, but my snakes about 13" long, when can i expect him to shed? and how often? monthly? He is fine and active and eating good but i just wanted to know what to expect
TIA

If he's eating regularily, I would expect him to shed once every 4-5 weeks. As he gets bigger, it will slow down.

As a very general guide, young corns will shed at around 4 week intervals assuming they have appropriate feed and temperature to digest efficiently.

(Slight side note) I suggest to keep a simple "log". Nothing fancy is needed, just a page from a note book that you write down the date you feed and what they ate (eg. 1 pinky), when they go into the blue phase, and when they shed, even when they refuse a meal. This may seem pointless at first, but you will build up data that will help you predict an oncoming shed. If nothing else this log may help explain why your snake may not eat (if it turns out to be one of those snakes that will refuse a meal when about to shed as some do). A log will also serve as a reminder of past activities and eliminates any "guess" work of remembering what happened 4,5 or 6 weeks ago and alert you to any potential problems.

Hope this helps some.

what do you mean the 'blue phase' is that when their eyes start to get kinda cloudy? im sorry im just really new at this, i thought id done my research, but i totally overlooked the shedding.

You got it, I don't know why it is called "blue" but it is, it is a more milky colour, most noticeable in the eyes and a duller over all appearance. Note though that they will clear up for a day or two (or three) before they actually shed.

I think its called the 'blue' phase because for about 12 to 24 hours during the time that the eyes go cloudy, they actually have a blue tint.
