How Often Should I feed now

Hello,

I wonder if I could get a bit of advise. We have had Irwin for nearly a year now, we are not sure of his age, although we reckon he (not sure if Irwin is a he or she) is about a year old.

He is growing very rapidly, he has gone from pinkies to fuzzies to a mouse in 10 months, he digests fine, sheds lovely and is generally happy and we have never (fingers crossed) had any problems with him. He Digests his food within 48 hours and seems content.

My question is we having been feeding him every 7 days, but I heard that once they are on mice we should be really feeding him every 10 days. Could someone please advise me what is best, do I carry on every 7 days or change him to every 10 days.

We have a friend who also has a cornsnake and roughly the same age as Irwin, but Irwin is alot bigger than theres and is on mice already where theres is still on 1 fuzzy.

I don't want to be overfeeding him. So any advise would be great. Thanks for reading.

Debbie

I think the norm is 1 mouse every 7-10 days so seven should be ok. It really depends on the snake though, if he/she is digesting within two days and is active afterwards I would think that it is perfectly fine to feed every seven days. And as far as your friend goes I don't think that its really necessary to compare your snake with his. My snake is only eight months old and is on hoppers so they are all different I guess. Just my opinion though, I don't have experience with adults. ;)

I still feed mine every 7 days but after a while they don't always eat every week. I expect that they eat when they are hungry and don't eat when they are not. You can cut back on feeding them but that's more for you're sake than theirs.

i feed mine every 7days also, and seems that she's fine with it..
as a matter a fact my friend feed his corn twice a week,,,

About a year,,
do you think my friend's method will cause a problem to the snake??

I feed my young corns every 5 to 7 days and my adults every 10 days, give or take a day or two. I wouldn't worry about overfeeding you snake. Maybe your friend needs to feed his snake more! I make the change from 7 to 10+ when I think there not going to get longer just bigger around. I like to spoil my pets, so mine weigh abit more I guess. Just watch for signs of obessity, skin in between scales and plump at the vent.

My Girl is almost a year, she's gettin every 5 days *shrug* So if I fed her sunday she would be getting fed again Friday and for a snake that size it is perfectly healthy to get fed twice a week like that.
