How often should my snake be fed?

We got our first corn snake yesterday. She is probably about 6 mos. old. I gave her a pinkie this morning, and she swallowed it very quickly. I am thinking this is not enough. I also purchased some frozen fuzzies. Give me some advice on how much, and how often.

Q: How do I know when to move up to the next size mouse or rat?
A: Move up to the next sized prey item when you do not notice a visible 'lump' after 24 hours following a feeding. There should be a lump visible between 24-48 hours after any feeding. Also remember, feeding items that are over 1.5x the thickness of the snake can cause problems. Try not to feed any items that are larger than 1.5x the thickness of your snake.

Feed her every 5-7 days. When she gets older, feed every 7-10 days. You will know when she is ready to move up when her food doesn't leave an obvious lump in her tummy.
 
Ok, called the pet store and they STILL don't have my frozen breeder mice in for Billy. They have small mice and rat pups. The guy told me to feed him the small mouse but that it is just about the size of a rat pup or to just feed him two rat pups. My question is, should I feed him the one mouse or go with the two pups? Should he, at 4 feet long, be eating just one prey item per 10 days by now? A small rat seems to be too big and he rejected the one I offered him when we found him. Probably because he must have been a hand raised snake and was just used to getting small prey instead of bigger prey but I want to gradually get him up to where he should be with prey items.
Any suggestions?

Don't even bother with pinkies.

Give it one appropriately sized prey item every 7 to 10 days. An appropriatedly sized prey item is one mouse or small rat that is approximately 1.5 times as thick as the thickest part of the snake.

Giving it two once in awhile probably wouldn't hurt. Just make sure to keep track of the snake's weight so you don't make it fat.
 
Billy ate two rat pups tonight and ate them both at the same time, the frozen mice were just too small and the frozen breeder mice that are perfect for him, won't be in til Monday. But he ate both of the pups and the bigger one of the two was much bigger than the other and it left a lump. Not much of one but I'm sure his belly is quite full. I won't feed him but every 10 days after I get the breeder mice. At this point, I'm not so worried about him getting overweight and I promise I won't make a habit out of feeding him two at a time but that was my only option. He seems a bit skinny for his length so, I'm not too worried.. He is very active in his viv tonight too which he didn't do after he ate last time. It's good too see him so comfortable in his new home :)
 
When mine are the size of yours and eating jumbo mice or small rats, I'm only feeding every 2 weeks. They get fat in a hurry otherwise.
