ok i got a hatchling that is liveing in a 15 gal tank and i neeed help w/ heating it i have a 75 wat buld and it gets the tank up to 90 in like 1 1/2 hours they pet store is ordering me a smaller bulb but i still think i woun't be able to keep the heat normal in the tank, the problem is i have a 29 gal tank that i am used to heating w/ a 150 wat bulb and a heat pad at the same time, ne 1 ealse have a 15 gal and could pleas tell me how to heat it?

oh yea i also use flood kind lights not the normal round ones

I have a 15 gallon tank and I use a heat pad under one side which works fine. It's not the air temperature, remember, but the surface temp.

thanks but i have solved this problem (hopefully) today i got a heat pad for under neath it and it only raised it 4 F so i got a real smal light i think it's like 5.5" round and a 30 watt bulb i hope this works if not i'll go get a bigger bulb.

sweet little temp control device

This thermostat works great, will automatically maintain the desired temp.,especially good when one has a lot of temperature variances in their house.(day/night)

Repti Temp Thermostat 500r

Product features:
Direct contact thermostat reads temperature through glass

Eliminates the need for holes in your terrarium that sneaky little reptiles can escape through.

Features a 6 ft. remote sensor probe

Dual Port plug receptacle controls multiple heating devices!

Can be used in conjunction with a timer for day/night cycle simulation.

Ranges from 70° to 110°F (21° to 43°C.)

I like to use thermostats instead of rheostats whenever possible.

Do a google search online suppliers
around $30.U.S.

i got one from raido shack it black and has indoor and outside temps just put the display in the indoor side (cool) and the probe in the outside side (warm) and it works fine i just sit the lid on top of the wires.

That would be a indoor/outdoor thermometer.I have the same thermometer too.Nice reliable unit.

The device I'm talking about, you can plug in your under the tank heater and say your overhead red bulb with reflector, mounted outside of tank, on top of screen .
You place remote temp sensor in the tank in your hot spot and dial in the desired temp for it to maintain automatically.
A classic no brainer at that point,
makes long term,season to season,temp maintenance a breeze:D
