how to tell when pinks go bad

ok, real stupid question but here goes, how do you tell if a frozen pink you defrost has gone bad? My freezer is on the fritz and I discovered tonight that while my pinks were still very cold, they were not completely frozen. They had not changed colors or have a bad smell and I immediately repositioned them and they are frozen now, but, when I thaw them out to feed, how do I know if they are ok?

You can smell them if they've gone bad.

Chances are they are fine.

They may be a little more mushy than normal due to a double freeze/thaw cycle, but if they smell fine, they're ok.

thanx for the reply. i really don't know how long they were thawed for, but I do know they were in the freezer the whole time, so they couldn't have gotten too warm. I'll give them a sniff when i thaw them out just to make sure. I'm hoping the smell of rotten mouse is a distinctive one lol.

And honestly, they can and will eat things without harm that are further gone than I'm comfortable with. If the pinks were thawed, but still cool, chances are they're just fine.
