My snow is incredibly hard to tell when she's blue...it seems a very narrow window at times for the cloudy eyes, and she doesn't necessarily look any duller because she's very pale otherwise. I can, however, tell she's going into shed cycle from her behavior. which is significantly different. She's a fairly active snake, and loves being out and about, climbing around her viv. When she starts hiding 24/7, I know she's heading into shed.
If you happen to miss the eyes, maybe use behavior as a backup indicator?
