Howdy, corn folks!

Lolo

Surrounded by snakes
Just thought I would introduce myself, since I just joined the site... I'm getting my first corn snake next Tuesday, a male (not guaranteed) Aztec Reverse Okeetee. Took forever to find the right snake, but this little guy just spoke to me! Here's a photo from the breeder, and I'll post more when he arrives: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v150/hikefish/09 Cornsnakes/?action=view&current=DSC_0122-1.jpg

I'm new to corn snakes but not reptiles, as I already own 7 ball pythons and a leopard gecko. I love my pythons dearly, but had an extra 15qt tub laying around that looked sad & empty... so why not fill it with another snake?! :D I've been wanting something non-BP anyway, and the people on my other forum suggested either a corn or hognose. Went with the corn because I prefer a larger snake, and love all the different morphs they produce. I'll probably breed him at some point, but haven't figured out what to breed him with quite yet - plus I want to verify his gender first, LOL.

A little about myself - I'm a (nearly - in 2 weeks) 33 year-old woman, and work as a librarian at a high school in San Francisco. I also live in SF, and have been here on & off since age 6. Love it!! :) In addition to my reptiles I have a great dog (40lb mutt) named Rudy, and 2 cats named Cyrus and Bindi. I look forward to "meeting" all of you, and learning everything about owning/breeding corn snakes.

CONGRATS and WELCOME!!! Good to have you here with us!! I look forward to more pics of your snake when he comes in!!!

Thanks for the welcome! I'll post picture as soon as he's here... anxious to meet the little fella. ;)

Argh.... is there no "edit" option for our posts? I hate typos, LOL. (meant to say pictures not picture) :D

Yay, another librarian :) I've got a little RO too, but just a regular patterned one. Welcome aboard!

The "edit" option comes with a paid subscription to support the site. :)

Don't worry, though. I think MOST of us knew what you were typing about. :p

Oh, I see in your profile that you're a medical librarian... very cool! I used to be a public librarian (branch manager in my last job), but recently started at a high school. Should be interesting, hehe. ;)

P.S. Half of my family is from the Philadelphia area... my mother grew up in Bala Cynwyd, but she & my dad moved to Washington, D.C. a few years before I was born. I've been to Philly a million times, though!

Ooo, branch manager. That sounds like it would be awesome and insanely stressful at the same time. I always give major props to school and public librarians, or any people who work with kids a lot, as I definitely don't have the temperament for it.

Awesome! Philly and D.C. are both cool places to live. I'm not too happy with Philly shutting down all of their public libraries though. :awcrap:

LOL... it does take a certain kind of person to work with kids, but I like a good challenge. I did love some aspects of branch management, it just wasn't for me overall - too much BS & not enough librarianship, if you know what I mean. I'm looking forward to working in a school, especially the part where I get summers off. ;)

OMG, I totally forgot about that... how awful!! And of all places, the home of the very first US public library? Ben Franklin must be rolling over in his grave right now. :( My mother started her library career in Philadelphia (the apple doesn't fall far from the tree - my grandfather & great-aunt were also librarians), and was devastated to hear about the closures. Is this definitely a permanent thing, or is there any hope for getting them back eventually?

so i take it you have got your snake already you have any new pics

Yup, he's been here for almost 2 weeks, and I adore him! :) I've posted pictures over on the photo forum, but here are a few more:
