How's my length/weight ratio?

PnyKlr

World's Tallest Midget
I know that there are always the questions about size, but I'd like to know about weight versus length. I've never seen any corns in person other than my own, so I have nothing to use for comparison.

Both snakes were purchased as hatchlings in March of 06 (I have no idea when they hatched). I believe they were around 15-18" long when I got them.

Male normal het snow: 132g 32" long

Female snow: 137g 32" long

Muscle tone seems good, but I have no way of knowing what "good" is. Neither looks as if they have the hips of an overweight snake. I guess I'm looking to see if they are of average weight for their lengths.

Thanks!

Wow, this thread sure plummeted to the bottom of the ranks! Here's a little bump to *hopefully* jar some replies. :poke:

Thanks for looking!

Well, I would think that they definitely aren't fat. However, I'm not an expert. I'm just thinking of the 3-3-3 "rule" for breeding. If some snakes can be (at least) 3 feet and 300 grams, then 130-140g at almost three feet is probably fine.
That being said, each snake grows differently. Some grow thicker before growing long and some grow long before growing thick. I'm sure they are probably a-ok.

You will very rarely find a fat young snake. The food is going to growing and so they use it all. Most obese snakes are over 2-3 years old. Looking at all my charts I have the following:
CS was about 6 months old when I got him and approximately 18" at the time. I didn't own a scale yet so I don't have a weight on him until he's a year and a half. He was 44" and479 grams at that time. However in the first six months I had him he went from 18" to 33"

My locality Okeetees~ 3 months old when I got them:
Coatl: 14"
3 months later: 21"/33 grams
1 year old: 31"/ 142 grams

Acatl:
14"
3 months later: 22"/31 grams
1 year old: 35"/ 120 grams (weight taken at 11 months)13 months/155 grams

Tepin:
10"
3 months later: 18"/ 28 grams
1 year old: 32"/92 grams (taken at 6 months) at 11 months 139 grams

Maya:late 03' got her at around 6 months also
22"
3 months later: 24" no scale yet
First weight and length I have is at approx. 1 year and a half
37"/248 grams

Minuet: approx. 1 year old
18"/28 grams
after 3 months: 40 grams, no length
after 1 year: 30"/98 grams

When I find where my scale is after my move, I'll be weighing everyone again. I have no weight or length info on my newest babies so I can't help you there. I figure your hatchling was about 5-6 months old when you got it judging from the size and weight. Hope my rambling helped give you a general idea.

Thank you all for the replies.

Meg: I am in the same boat with you in the scale issue! I don't have a scale, but I took my snakes to school yesterday and popped them on the balance. They have never been weighed before, so I can't tell what the growth is.

Its hard to judge what other corn snakes look like when viewing pictures on this forum. You guys have such great cameras, that the close-ups look fantastic....and huge! I never know exactly what the size of a snake is until I see a hand in the picture.

I have an idea on adult corn lengths, but no clue on their diameters. Thanks you guys (and gals).

I have a scale now, but I packed the darn thing for the move and I can't figure out what box it's in now! Arrrrgggh!
