Huge new viv?

I just got given a 4 foot fish tank to use as a viv for my Bella. So it's 48lx12wx18h inches, with a purple/pink (UV?) light running along the lid. Is this going to be suitable? Will it need extra heating, being so big? If so, will an UTH do the job?
I have to make some adjustments, the main one being to cover any escape route in the lid, and there are a few. I think I'll put a mesh over the top, but then I'll need access...
So yeah, I'd just like any opinions you have on whether I should use this tank.
 
Yeah, you could use it.

Try and get a white or bluey white uv light and a heat mat would be good too, mainly at night.

after a few hours of having the light on, the temp is about 78C, the same as the viv I'm using now, but the new temp is being read near the top, so I think that with a heatmat it should be just about right, and the light can go off at night. Going to need LOTS of substrate too!
Just need to get that mesh top sorted out.
 
OK, need to get some meshes fo my vivs. But its £10 each. Do you kow a cheap place to get them or how to make them so they fit well?
One last thing, do you know any good breeders or petshops???

erm, nope to all of em! but my landlord is a carpenter, so I'm hoping he can help with the mesh for me. The only petshop i know is the one I got my snake from, which has a fair selection, all corns at £35-£45. Don't know if that's good or not. They often have boas, ratsnakes, etc. They're a reptile and fish specialist.
