Humidity Issues

Got a question.

I have my 2010 cornsnake in my 3 41q tub rack in a 16 quarter with the lid on the top. Everything has been going great but the humidity wont go below 80%! If I take the top off, he manages t get out, even with cardboard, etc to make the tub lid flush with the top. This is because of the gap in the middle where the handles go (yes they are still attached and he still gets out). There is no moisture in the tub, no condensation on the sides and it feels dry in there. What do you guys/gals think? Will this cause issues?

Edit: I also have my florida king in there and his humidity is around 75-80% also. Sheesh... and I thought that tubs were easy haha

ANy chance we can get a pic of your setup; having a hard time seeing what your describing

Here is the rack. The corn is on the bottom shelf. I have taken the door off recently and no longer use it due to extremely high humidity levels that resulted.

yup, its digital. Its the $12 combo from walmart that was recommended by everyone here haha and yeah, im thinking thats what Ill have to do. I can take the tub lid off but the little guy always gets out. Kinda funny cause he always goes straight to the heat pad. Kinda like "Yay! I'm free! Oh wait... Its freakin COLD! Maybe this wasn't such a good idea... HEAT! I'll just stay here for a few min... Zzzzzzz"

Is 80% on an accurite, which is not accurate whatsoever in terms of measuring ambient TUB humidity going to hurt my corn? I was of the impression that as long as there is no mist in the tub, condensation, etc then the humidity level is fine?

Try move this gauge to different parts of the house and see if it changes.
80 is high and I don't think you need to see condensation either for it to be high.

well, the tub is in the rack so the humidity is higher. Ouside of the rack the humidity is in the 30's to 40's. After moving the gauge around the humidity stays around 70-80%.

I just cut out a piece of the tub lid around 10-12 inches long and around 3-4 inches wide and hot glued wire mesh over it. I'm thinking that oughta decrease it haha
