Humidity Problems

Hi everyone,

Im having problems keeping the humdity down in my new viv, does anybody have any ideas? Maybe smaller water bowl, better ventilation required??

Thanks in advance

i put plants around my water bowl and that stopped the humidity circulating and keeps my viv down to between 45 - 50% and my viv has got a wooden top with drilled ventilation, give it a try, it worked for me.

Mine is also a wooden top, it has 2 small air vents one either side. Thats interesting about the plants around the water bowl, i hadnt thought of that. Live plants or would the artificial kind to the trick aswell?

Thanks for the quick reply.

Try moving your water bowl further away from your heat source, to the far side of the viv. it reduces evaporation and humidity

I did try moving the water bowl to the opposite end of the viv but it made little, if not no difference. Maybe because the water bowl is quite big?

Snakewispera, i thought that this would be the case. However im worried that if i do increase the ventilation then this is likely to effect the temperatures? I really dont want to mess up the temps as ive just got them perfect and i dont have a thermostat at the moment.

Thanks for all the suggestions so far everyone :D

well, i put artificial vines around my water bowl on the cool side of my viv, and it stops the water rising and circulating in the viv, my temps stay perfect too pal.
nothing wrong with giving it a try

The easy answer is to invest in a thermostat, then you can ventilate to your hearts' content and just adjust the heat up if necessary.

That is the plan bitsy, and in the meantime i'll give the plants a try like justjamie suggested.

Thanks for all the suggestions everyone.
