humidity

I've had my snake since Monday and I noticed that her underside is a little scratchier than it was when I got her. Is this normal? Should I be trying to up the humidity in her tank, especially when she needs to shed? How would I do that?

Thanks so much! As you can tell, I'm totally new to this snake thing!

You can get a good shed around 50% -60% humidity.

I think corns feel different when they are about ready to go in to shed. You can also look at your snake and see that there is a color difference.

To increase your humdity you can get a spray bottle with water and spray the viv, your snake is in. I have read where some folks get paper towels, and get it damp and put it in the viv with the snake.

I made a shed hide for my snake, for her shedding. I just kept that moist instead of spraying my whole viv.

I put damp paper towels or damp sphagnum moss into a small tub and put it in the viv. That way the snake can decide whether it wants to be in a more humid environment. Most of mine will take up residence in their shedding tubs for around a week before they shed.

i use dry substrate, however i just add a few more little water bowls and my humity is around 60 at that time, in general it hovers around 50-55. they shed perfectly every time.
