I can't sleep!!!

Awww! That's great! Congratulations on the baby!!! I used to ride hunter jumpers but it's been awhile. My old trainer had to move, and the new one at my stable was a little off in her teaching. I was a beginner and didn't want to risk getting hurt.

I'll change my options for PM's now :)

Thanks. I'm really looking forward to it. I've raised babies (I've had my gelding pretty much since he was born), but we've never had one born on the farm.

Aww, I can't remember the last time one was born at our stables. It was so amazing though! I'll never forget it.

I can't wait. I really hope she decided to have the foal when I'm aware that its happening and can be there (not just a random drop in the pasture in the middle of the night after not showing any signs of labor) to watch.

Sometimes you can tell.
A day or 2 before the main event they get a little secretive.
They go scout out the far corner of the pasture, or pace inside the barn as if to find a 'quiet corner' in which to drop the little one.
Even a social critter wants a little privacy sometimes.

I'm a 3rd shifter, and due to problems at work, I work 3rd 2 days a week, and 2nd the rest of the week. But they're random days and I have random days off.
Not that it messes with my sleep or social life, or anything.

I know what you mean since GM is in shut down I work 2 on midnights 2 on days and 1 on evenings. Not fun at all.

Her last foal, which she didn't have at home, (she was with a friend of ours for over a year because she's a little heave-y and needs to be outside most of the time, and we didn't have the ability to do that, now we do and she's back home) she showed no signs. Bam, foal in the pasture in the morning. Now, the lady she was with doesn't know her as well as I do (I've had her for 5 years) so maybe I'll be able to notice minor changes in behavior. :crosses fingers: I really wanna be there when the little bugger is born! :)

Sometime in late April I believe. I'm not too up to date with exactly when she was bred (my mom knows though).

Gettin' to be that same time of night again. I know I'll be wide awake from now til about 4am. Shoot me please? Or find me horse tranquilizers? lol

Oooh oooh ooh! Pictures for sure! My cousin has a little POA so everytime I stayed the night at her house, we'd take turns on her. We need to make a giant foal thread when they're all born. My mare is due to drop soon, and my parents have about 6 or 7 mares ready to drop within the next couple months as well.

PS... NyQuil works pretty good :)

Ahahaha! Thank you! I love your Mitch Hedburg quote - he's one of my heroes. May he rest in peace. One of my favorites is "I saw this wino...he was eatin' grapes. I was like "Dude, you have to wait!" :)
