Just before I fed them earlier I finally managed to measure Scylla and Medusa.they are both 13.5 inches long.I put them on a speaker and they were the exact length of it!I wanted to know this as I posted a thread a few days ago and couldn't give the exact info needed for an informed decision..In any case,I was wondering whether or not to feed them both 2 pinks say,every 6 days?1 pink isn't leaving much of a bulge now,[vitually indetectable unless held up to the light.]Also I have noticed that Scylla looks wider in girth compared to Medusa even though they are both the same length thereabouts.They have eaten the same meals etc since hatching,could it be scylla is really a boy?Any thoughts on this???Cheers V :shrugs:
 
Long isn't as important as wide when deciding what size food item. Actually, long isn't an issue at all. As long as the 'food' is one to one and a half times the size of the little darling at it's widest point then you will be fine. :)

Serps awsome tool for measuring

I can't remember which thread I got the link in, but you might search for it or ask someone. If I was more computer literate I would be able to link you from here because I downloaded it. Anyway Serp has a program that is really accurate for measuring. My snow I thought was 16" is really only 14.17" hard to tell when the little buggers move so much. Maybe someone here can post the link.
 
What to do???

They are 13.5 and 13.6 inches respectively!I put them on a speaker and gently but firmly held behind the head with one hand and gently manipulated them until I was happy enough they were pretty straight,thus getting reasonably accurate results...If anything they maybe 1mm longer.I can't use sepwidgets program yet as I don't have a camera I can use yet.I have downloaded it though and as soon as I have a camera then y'all be sick of amel posts!!!!Both doing well,haven't ever refused a meal for me and both are really calm to handle now.I was just wondering if I should be feeding them more as both are very active after dinner and every evening unless they were in "blue"Then they hide but both ate in the early stages of the "blue" phase..They are eating a medium pink every 4/5 days and when past the neck area is hard to work out where it is,I can only see it when I hold them up to the light.They are pooing frequently,and as far as I can see are in peak condition..What to do??? Cheers! V

No. The skin tends to stretch when it is shed, and it wouldn't be an accurate measurement. Some people like to figure out what percentage the shed has stretched and do some fancy math to figure out the length of the snake, but that's all too complicated for those of us who like to keep things simple. I just use Serp's program. It is the easiest and most accurate way of measuring I've found so far.
 
You could go up to two pinkies every 5 days and see how they do. They might be ready for a small fuzzy if there is no discernable bulge in their bodies.
 
I went to where I get my pinkies from and discovered that they come in different sizes...so I got some bigger ones and two nights ago gave Scylla one for dinner.She is wider than Medusa so thought to give her something a bit bigger.She managed to eat one almost the size of a fuzzy,in fact it did have the tiniest amount of hair...In any case I checked the both of them last night and 24 hours later no sign of a bulge.Both snakes are in blue again,it seems that they both will eat for me when like this,so thank the lord for them being good eaters!!!Medusa is currently eating a medium sized pink which was also no sign of last night.NO regurges found either.Both are pooping in thier waterbowls.So do I do 2 small pinks versus 1 big one??Cheers!V :shrugs:
 
Well either or. Two small, or one big, or save the small ones for the smaller one, and feed the larger size to the larger one. It doesn't really matter.
 
The reason I keep asking this is that I read a thread which terrified me..About someones poor snake which had torn the skin on its neck for it's food item being too big...They are both the same length just that Scylla is noticably wider than Medusa.At About 13.5 Inches maybe 1 mm more.Sorry for being paranoid but I don't want to powerfeed or let them go hungry,either!Thank you all for the responses!!V
