I guess I won't get bloodreds...

Well, I was planning on getting some bloodreds and have them shipped. I told my mom I was going to buy them but made the mistake of telling her how much it would cost (around $200). She was like "thats a lot of money to spend on 2 snakes", or something of the like. That made me feel all guilty about being irresponsible with my money, so I didn't buy them and now ther're sold. Oh well, I really like bloodreds but I thought about it and 06s I wouldn't be able to breed, (which untimately is my goal with snakes, I'm always seeing you guys post pics of all your babies and I get really jealous) them until my 12th grade, and I'm not sure what I would do with them in college. So I decided that if I saw some bloodreds at the Michigan Reptile show I might buy them, but otherwise I'll just get something else less expensive. And because reptile show prices are usually cheaper than what I see online, because of shipping and the fact that small breeders generally sell snakes for less, I may get two somethings. There is just so much possibility. I can't wait to go. I havent been since March I think. I'm sure Ill find something I like.

On the other hand, it might be easier for you to sell your snakes (and their offspring) if they are some of the more expensive morphs. Since you're not sure what you're going to do with them when you go to college, that might be an option to consider keeping open.

As long as you earn the money and it's yours, I fail to see why you can't just spend it however you like. So long as you are allowed to have snakes in the first place, it's your decision as to how much you spend on them.

Yes Plisskin, I suppose I can do what ever I like with my money. Its just I want to please the parents is all. My dad I don't think likes that I have any snakes at all. When I got my first snake he kind of didn't care, but then I got a second and he didn't seem very thrilled, but I doubt he really cares at all. I doubt he even really knows that I have six snakes now. My brother went into my room a few weeks ago and saw one of my butters. He asked me when I had gotten it, because he didn't know I had it. I'd had it for 8 months. Plus I will be earning less money now, I had a paper route, and now I will have to mostly give it up because of sports after school. My mom is the only person in my family who is interested (or seems to be) and definately the only person who understands my love for snakes, as she was an animal lover as a child as well. I am greatly influenced by her I guess, because she is the only one who cares. I know I can sell more expensive morphs more easily, and I don't plan to just stock up on less expensive ones. I may get some more common ones, but I do want to get something that is more expensive. Either that, or maybe I will focus on getting some stripes or motleys, of the less expensive morphs of course. I'd love to get some butter stripes, but they are even more expensive than bloodreds by a longshot. Anyway I'll just have to wait and see what happens.

If cost is too much of an issue you could try getting hets. Or combinations of morphs with their hets. If you already have a butter adding a normal stripe het Butter or two would be a lot less expensive then buying a few Butter Stripes off the bat.

It's great that you're thinking ahead to College. When the time comes to check out Colleges make sure you know what their pet policy is. The dorms I lived in allowed only fish. Also, some Colleges make you spend a mandatory first year living in the dorms.
Apartments are a lot easier. The apartment I just lived in for the last year has a pet policy, no more than two, anything in a cage or aquarium "doesn't count".

Good luck with your collection and future plans! I am stuck at a stage where I haven't had a stable place to live for a few years now (college, moving around from year to year, not being homeless!). I've really tried to limit myself and the amount of snakes I've been adding to my collection until I'm at a place where I can kind of "settle down", but it's hard!
Have fun at the expo! And be sure to update us on what you bring home... It's impossible to leave an expo empty handed!
