I might be getting a new corn soon...

Suzy, by the way , I am a newbie. So , by definition, I know squat. But , I have 2 baby corns now and give them 2 small pinkies each. The rep at TMF suggested the combo of 50 small and 50 large . I am hoping that when the smalls run out , they will be ready for the large guys. Since I have 2 snakes, I will go through them pretty fast. So they wont be around for all that long. Maybe you could find somebody to split an order with.

Well, I was looking at Petco.com earlier today, and saw some that were fairly cheap, but I don't know how good they work. Do you think these would work ok? Click Here They're just under $2, so I don't know if they may be too cheap or what. Or do you have a certain brand that you'd recommend? it'll probably be either a 10 gal or a 29 gal tank. Thank you! :)

I use them on both of my tanks with non built in lids :D

Cool! Well, i'm sure i'll end up getting another snake eventually (hopefully it won't take me as long as it did this time. :)) so I guess I could just keep them in the freezer if need be. So did you call to place your order? I was just going to do it online, but if I can do 50/50 then that might work out better for me.
I don't really know many people around here with snakes. The only one I do know that has one has a yearling ball python, so I doubt he'd need any pinkies. :) But i'm sure I can put an ad up on craigslist or even on here, and see if somebody wants them if I can't find a use for them. Thank you!

Yes, just call them to place the order. I found them really friendly and helpful. I believe they will keep for a few months. I divided the order into smaller freezer bags and keep all of the bags in a tupperware container.

Yeah, that's my only issue is keeping them hidden. :) I may have to go that route, and then put the tupperware into a marked brown paper bag. :) I don't know how happy my family would be about seeing frozen mice in the same freezer as the food. It wouldn't bother me as much, but you never know with those crazy non-snake liking people. :eek1:

Just tell them it's no different from keeping raw meat in there, actually, it's more sanitary than that :p

About the pinkies, it took my Corn roughly a month (so 6 small single pinkies) to be large enough to handle double pinks, then another month (so 12 pinkies) to be large enough for fuzzies. When they're vacuum packed the pinkies can last for several months, and even up to a year with no ill effects. However, they do start to lose nutrients when they're stored for that length of time. So if you get another snake ordering those pinks from TMF would be great, or if you have someone to split them with. If not, it might be more economical to simply get them from a local pet store. But, TMF give top quality products which your local store might not offer, so it's your call :)

All the best

David

Yeah, but I still don't think they'll see it as such. :) It's hard telling with crazy people.
I was thinking about it, and I might just buy pinkies from a pet store, and once it moves up a size, I could buy them from TMF. It's only $1.39 for a single in my area, and I could get a 25 - pack for $25. I know that's probably more expensive than TMF, but I don't really think i'd need 100 mice of that size. I'll figure it out when the time comes, though. :)
I'm just curious has anyone used RodentPro? They're vendors at my local reptile show, and i'm curious about their product. If anyone can help me with that, i'd appreciate it. It'd probably be easier just to pick up some mice from them and bring it straight home than to have it shipped.

Sad News...

Somebody already came up and got the snake. I guess she drove 5 - 5 1/2 hours from Oklahoma City to get the snake. I'm just happy it got a good home. :) I'll make sure that i'll get a snake by the time February or March rolls around. Thanks for all of your help, everybody! I appreciate it.
