I think my male mouse lost his testicles!

I have 1.3 Red-Eyed White mice.

I was feeding them last night and they like to climb up the wires on their cage. I of course was looking at them as they did this and I noticed my male's testicles are either completely gone or up in his body or something. Either way it's not good because where his testicles would be sticking out, it is VERY red and there are no visible testicles.

I have a feeling the females ganged up on him and may have bit them off or something. I don't know why they would have done this, they all seem to get along all the rest of the time. Although I haven't seen blood or anything in the cage so I find that weird.

He is now going to be food for my corn snake since he is no use to me without testicles.

What do you think might have caused my females to do that?

Are you sure they're gone and not just pulled up? If you can hold him around the abdomen and give slight squeeze sometimes they drop back down. Or hold by the base of the tail and let him grab on to something like a cage bar and try to pull away.

Male mice can retract their testicles if they are threatened, so I'd check carefully if I were you before culling. I thought I'd saved the wrong mouse for my new breeding group until the girls have come into season........ :bang: I can now see very clearly that 'boy' is indeed a boy and he's been at it for 2 days solid now

Thank you both for your suggestions!

I took a very close look just now at each mouse. It turns out my male is fine and so is his testicles! :)

The one I saw with the sore was the smallest female. She is tiny compared to the other three mice and I think they may be picking on her while I'm not around. Her sore starts just behind her vulva up to her anus. It looks very painful, swollen, and red. There is no way she can deficate so she's definitely going to be food for my corn. I'd rather her die quickly then die slowly by not being able to deficate plus keep being picked on by the other three.

Thanks again!

I don't know about the rest of you, but it's apparent to me that your mouse has met my ex-wife. :grin01:

Pure class.........

I was in a new pet store at my hometown when visiting and was talking to the owner there and I saw that their feeder mice were actually about half price of what I pay for at home. So we got talking and I was asking about bulk orders and he told me that I would need to wait before he would have built back up enough to keep his normal supply for his customers and he would then put back bulk for me. I asked him if there was a run on feeder mice. He said no, that his females chewed off the testicles of all the males. I had never heard of that before and he said that it was a first for him. So..., who knows? :shrugs: Mice are weird and stupid, fun in some ways but stupid, that is why they are lower in the food chain for snakes.
