My corn likes to bury his thermometers ( i use 2 of the round dial types, one one each end of the cage). Every couple days when i get hope from work he has them reburied. I was wondering if anybody else has had this happen or if I just have a eccentric snake? :shrugs:
I think they are probably just being pushed under the bedding as he cruises around. Corns tend to smash anything in the viv. Every now and then plants need to be fluffed and decor readjusted. So, I'm thinking your situation is fairly normal...
Yep, my Cheerio has no regard for the decorations she hides in. She only goes around or onto things if they don't move out of her way.
I use a small dial thermometer to read the cool side temp. I have found that it helps to keep it away from the walls.
From my experience those things always fall off the wall anyway. :shrugs: For the record, those stick-on type thermometers aren't very accurate; you might like to consider buying a digital thermometer with a probe.

Corns are interior decorators. They will rearrange anything and almost everything. My corns weighing in at a wopping 32 grams and yet he still has the power to move almost everything in his tank...

I think getting two electronic probe thermometers was the smartest investment for my corn. To show you how inaccurate those LCD thermomters are (even though you are using a dial one), the LCD read 70F and the probe read 100F. And yes, I got my corn down to a lower temp.
Lastly, you should try to find a way to make the probe stick to the bottom of the tank. Some come with suction cups, but as we all know, you can move a suction cup around on the glass, even thouugh you can't pull it off.
I was thinking about using silicone to attach the probe to the bottom over the center of the UTH.
I know give the silicone lots and lots of time to cure before putting snake back in!
Any one try this?? Any problems from probe getting wet while cleaning the Viv?
Oh yeah I am mostly using Zilla brand digitals.
