I hav just fed my 7 months old snake a fzzy. now this is his second one, the first one he ate 2 weeks ago. I think that it was pretty big for him, and i am rather worried. he is still tryin 2 swallow it now, but he is down to the hind legs. the front legs were sticking out and gav him quite a bit of trouble, and he managed to rip the fuzzy in half, im not quite sure how. anyway i am worried that it could be too big for him to digst properly, but as i am saying this he has probaly already finished it. do you think he will regurge if it is too big? i would like som advice. :shrugs:

If it's so big that it can't digest before it starts to rot inside him, he'll regurge it. There's nothing you can do now. If he regurges, then you must not feed him for ten days, and then feed him a mouse half the size you normally feed him. Then go back to your regular schedule. I'm curious why you are feeding at a two week interval. That would be right for an adult male snake. Young snakes should be somewhere in the five to seven day range- especially if it is eating fuzzies. That would be a five day schedule.

normally it would be one every sunday but i have been in France and apparently the person looking after him "was to scared 2 feed him" after he saw shaka devour the last mouse.

Better find a better snake sitter next time! Well, he's _probably_ ok, and you can't do anything now anyway. I have a snake that regurged a too big mouse, though, and I had a feeling before I fed the mouse to her that it was too big, and I went ahead anyway, and then felt horrible when she regurged two days later...

I've been lucky in that I've yet to have a regurge with any of my snakes. I think I tend to "under" feed for fear that they can't handle something larger.. I ordered a scale and should get it soon so that should help in figuring out just what size mouse I will need for my snakes, since I will be following Deans feeding chart. Thanks Dean!

Just make sure your snake has water, a nice hide and that the temperature is perfect. Assuming he does not regurge in the next day or two, you may want to wait until he passes the mouse before handling again. Avoiding any stress will help avoid a problem. I have fed my snake a prey item that was too big. No regurge, lesson learned, and I have a new respect for my snake.
