I'm totally confused now

Okay, I wrote a few weeks ago about my huge female that was possibly gravid. I say possibly because now I am totally not sure. She just shed today, first bred on March 5, so the timing of the shed is right. However, she never really swelled up like I expected her to. Other gravid snakes I have had have always gotten downright bloated down there, I mean you could see obvious skin between the scales along the sides. This snake you can't. Palpating her is impossible because she is so husky anyways you can't feel anything but squishiness. But what makes me think she is gravid is her belly scutes really really protrude...is that a sign of gravidity? Do some snakes just not show as much as others? I'm gonna go ahead and put an egglaying box in with her tomorrow just to be safe. I think she's gravid because she mated so much but then again I'm not totally sure. Anybody got any clues? Or is this just gonna be a wait and see type deal?

On another note, my other female is definitely gravid; I palpated 16 eggs in her tonight. She's easy to palpate though.

Oh well, guess I'll know in a week or so.

There is a big possablity that she is gravid, so put the egglaying box in to be safe.

I had one female last year that I just couldn't tell for sure if she was gravid. She's a big girl anyway, but as you say she just didn't get like the other girls. Well, she laid 24 eggs.
The belly scutes getting to be rounded outwards instead of flat is certainly a sign.
Good luck with them all,
Skye

Thanks for the replys. It's kinda annoying when they don't show the way you want them to. Yeah I handled her last night for awhile and keep trying to palpate but couldn't feel anything but squishiness, but yeah those belly scutes really really round out, as opposed to being just flat towards the front half of her body. I went to walmart today and finally found an egglaying box big enough for her to lay in, she's sitting in it chillin right now. Now comes the fun part, waiting, and after that another 55 days or so of waiting, oh yeah and after that 24 hours after pipping before the little guys finally emerge! and i'm not a patient person lol. oh well, usually i forget about the eggs and then remember once a week or so and get pleasantly surprised when i see hatchlings.
