As many of you know, I served in the US Air Force as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) technician. Today is the memorial in which we add names to our wall of brothers who have passed on while in the line of duty. I have not been able to make it to this ceremony since I was in tech school in 2006, but send my heartfelt condolences to those who lost their lives serving our country. These men are truly a class of their own, they are complete goofballs, pranksters, and perverts, but are serious when the time comes, and business needs to get done.
I have personally known at least one of the Airmen placed on the wall in the past, and he was a great man. I may be a civilian now in body, but I will forever be EOD at heart. These men are my hero's, and it hurts me to see more names added to our wall, but lightens my heart to know that they are getting recognition for the ultimate sacrifice for their country, families, friends, and fellow EOD brothers and sisters.
May they forever be in the minds of all they protected, and the hearts of all whom they loved.
