do you keep your snake. Currently charlie is in the guest room, but i wanna know if its ok to have him in my bedroom especially since i dont go to bed until around 12 at night

How strange. Mine is also called Charlie (Sir Charlesbottom actually), he's in my bedroom and I'm very much a night owl. You won't bother him at night but he might bother you!

Of course I plan to buy a mansion and give him a whole wing to himself one day..

i read in a book " so long as you don't keep him/her near a sunlit window it wouldn't matter where it is"

We keep Sienna in the bedroom, his light is on a timer, so it shuts off around 10:30 and we just flip on the lights for a few minutes whenever we're ready to go to bed. I don't think it really bothers him too much, he just freezes (its amazing what you'll catch them doing) and then when the lights go off he's back about his normal business. You can hear him moving around all night though. But I guess as long as you're not a light sleeper it should be fine, right?:)

I'm concerned

because charlie is just a kid (only 18" long about 4 months i think) he only comes out when it gets dark. If i turn the light on he freezes but if i leave the light on he goes back to his hide. I dontwant to put the cage in my room and have him stressed from only having 8 hours of darkness

maybe he will just think it's summer? seriously, I don't know. But, it doesn't seem like it'd be that bad to me, could be wrong though.

Before we had Sienna's light on a timer we'd just turn it off when we went to bed, and he never seemed stressed. He still ate normally, defecated normally, never minded being picked up, or handled, or anything. I guess I don't really know if it was stressful for him or not though, since its hard to tell. Hopefully the timer fixed that problem though (if there even was one).

Maybe if you are concerned you could just shut his light off at a certain time, and then use a smaller desk lamp type deal for around the room at night. This is what I did with my turtles while I was in my dorm room at college. After their light went out I would switch to my desk lamp, and they would just totally ignore it and go to sleep. Maybe the same will work for your snake?

Edit: just realized I'm assuming you use over head lighting on him...if not maybe just dim the lights when you feel it should be "dark" for him?

I have all my snakes in the spare bedroom. I had a few in my bedroom and it really seemed that they were OK with it. (light, activity) Being that I got a few more, they needed to be moved. :)

all of my snakes have their own room in my second bedroom, so I don't really worry about it. They have a pretty big window, but I have a timer for their lights and the main light so they both go on at the same time

i keep flick in my bedroom and he doesn't seem bothered at all with the tv, music or lights.

actually, i have found that if he's in one of his hides and i turn the tv on, he'll poke his head out to see what's going on.

MOs tof mine live in the snake/cat room. ANd I also hav ea few on display in my befroom, the daughters room, and in the dining room. None of them seem to have any ill effects from the light/dark in the room.

Don't be concerned, he's nocturnal and still a baby, tis normal. Eventually he probably won't give a monkeys whether you turn your light on or not!
