Increase Feeding?

Hi, my corn just shed for the first time since I've had him. I've been feeding him one pinkie every 6 days, and have noticed on the last couple feedings, he was out and about that night or the following, instead of holed up under his hide. He is currently 15-16 in long...and had a complete shed (yea!) Anyway, I was thinking about bumping him up to 2 pinkies...what do you guys think? Thanks

My snake in the past 2 feedings(before last week) was out and about and hour or two after feeding. He was on pinkies. I started him last week with a small fuzzy. He was fine with it and seems to be alot more satisfied and calmer. So I would say yes...move up to either 2 pinkies or small fuzzies.

mine is about 14-15 inches and i started him one 2 pinkies every 5 days about 2 weeks ago and hes been doing great with it. They are little pigs, i would say go ahead and try 2 on your next feeding and see how he does. Mine use to come out right after eating one pinky, but now that its 2 he stayes hidden for a day or two now.

for how long he is i would move hiom onto 2 pinks ever 5-7 days, then depending on how he handles them you might want to move him to a small fuzzies after a couple feedings

I have 2 month supply of frozen pinkies so im gonna finish those up before i move to fuzzies, by that time im sure he will be ready to move up!

The only reason I moved up to fuzzies instead of 2 pinkies, is the Herpeton store where I get my feeders is only 3 miles away and right on the way home from work. The variety of sizes available are amazing to me. It seems that no matter if it is pinkies, fuzzies, hoppers, etc., they have the proper size for your snake. They told me there that a fuzzy that is not too big is better than 2 pinkies. I was an idiot and didn't think to ask why. But my snake seemed to be really happy and was much calmer this past week than usual. Only my own experience.

Not a problem! If your snake handled the fuzzy with no regurge or any other problem, then you're well on your way! LOL I, personally go with 2 pinkies for a few feeds before I move up to fuzzies, but I have all sizes available to me and in my freezer, waiting. Some of us, (like you) have to make do with what is available, and apparently your snake adapted to that choice. Congrats!!!

Thanks. I feel very lucky. Jake has been nothing short of amazing. He has always eaten with no regurges, no problems at all. With an audience, when totally blue, he has never refused a meal. He has had 2 perfect sheds. He climbs right in to my hand when I want to handle him. He has never even been in defensive pose or tried to strike at me or anyone else. I am very happy as a first time snake owner.

Then I can say ditto with that,my amels eat like horses in thier feeding boxes and I've never been tagged.I am a first time corn owner,I had a water dragon until recently, and I had a garter snake years ago.I am going to stick with my cornies though, will be making a reptile house soon, then I will be loking for some adults...Just want to make sure I get the Hatchlings to about a year before I start breeding though.V
