He is hyper defensive... strikes the glass when too close to his enclosure.

Taiwan's are definitely on my wishlist. Never seen both together like that. Thanks for posting these, it's really cool to see them compared side by side. Is the taiwan fully grown as well? I've heard they have calmer temperaments than the blues, would you agree with that?

Sorry for the double post. I got a little too excited there and hit the post button before I was quite done. LOL

That's a pretty gnarly bite. Looks like he got every single tooth into you! That must have been one pissed off snake!

No worries, completely different temperments. Shes very easy going, active but social. She's full grown (~16 or 17 years old now) and is 8.5 feet.

He's 6 years old and 10.5 feet. And hell on wheels.

They do have quite a different body build. Taiwanese have definit heavier build and as they age spend more time on the ground. The blues even as adults are a good 50% arboreal and are clearly built lighter for it.

Extremely COOL beasts!! Must be nice to be able to handle them, even if you have to get tagged every now and again. As long as that doesn't happen with a hot! (Hurts so Good!!).

My vbb was my practice hot before I ventured into the elapids. At his size, speed, and temper, not much else could put my reflexes and hook skills to the test. I treated him as a hot and did all my cleaning ect protocols as such. With the naja collection going he's back to bringing treated as the colubrid that he is and my guard is down to allow the occasional tag from him.

10.5 feet?! Whew! That's a lot of snake!

Thanks for the info MalinoisK9, that's super cool that you have both and can compare. Just stunning snakes. I'm currently researching Taiwanese Beauties and will hopefully get one in the not-too-distant future when I feel ready. Really appreciate your answers!

You'll love a Taiwan. She was my very first snake and started me down this crazy path.
