Interesting Photo

So, my snake has been in blue for a few days now. 2 days ago, I took this picture:

And her skin looked like this:

I know that it's common for a snake's eyes to clear up a day or two before the actual shed. So this morning, I took a picture and her eyes looked like this:

Now, here's the interesting photo. Take a close look at the ventral skin in this one. You can actually see a seperation between the layer that is about to shed, and the new skin underneath:

I thought it was pretty neat to see this progression, and thought I would share.

Cool pics. I've watch a few snakes shed in my time but for the most part I find the after effects in the tub and don't think much of it. I used to keep sheds now I just log it and move on.

...At first I thought you were going to say that it was so interesting that my snakes eyes were blue, but now are clear :p

Thats actually pretty cool. I never knew that it started to seperate before they even shed.

No...I know that that is relatively normal. I've certainly read enough topics posted here where people are wondering what happened to the shed after the eyes cleared up ;).

I just never saw a seperation like the last picture shows. I didn't even see it until after I took the pics. I was just trying to get some up close shots of the scales and skin and that's what came out. When I viewed the pictures on my computer, I noticed the distinct seperation.

I only posted the first 3 photos to give a brief description of the process, in case someone else wasn't aware that there was a clearing of the eyes before the shed. I thought it might help someone going through their "first shed"...

you got that right... there are so many people who are like

"I Cant find the shed!!! My snake was blue and now hes normal! but the shed is nowhere to be found!"

Now I know where to direct them :)

Awesome pics tyflier. Sure wish I was able to take decent pics of my 2. The way you were able to show the seperation of the skin was amazing.

It was pure luck. I didn't even know it was visible until after I already put the pics in my computer. I wish I was able to say "I meant to do that", but frankly...I just got really lucky.
