Introducing "Macy Grey"

Bobo's Mama

proud corn mommy!
I got a new breeder female today. Not from a nasty petstore, but from a local guy who breeds rats. She is 6 weeks old. I named her Macy Grey because she is grey and because the singer by the same name is really cool. She is so soft and delicate right now.

can I use that pic

Hey. Can I steal your picture to use in lectures? It is a fabulous example of the primate retention of the primitive mammalian characteristic of having 5 digits. You get to be the derived mammal, Macy Gray, the primitive.

Sure, you can use it, but do you want the original? PM me with your email if you want me to send you the original file.

This is what I found this morning. Aren't they cute! Now my hairless rat Salty, has someone to cuddle with. Salty and my male almost never cuddle up together. They are curled up in a square tissue box cover. I find that they are the perfect rat beds. They can put as much bedding or as little as they want in them, and they have the little window that they can peek out of.

Those are cute pics Becky!!! Congrats on the new one shes so cute! Im curious how old r Rats when they are able to breed? Thanks :)

About 8 weeks for males, and a little less for females. This girl is 6 weeks old, and my male was checking her out quite a bit, but he wasn't mating with her, so she isn't in heat yet.

Hey Becky... Cute idea with the tissue box covers for hides. They look so cozy and comfy in there peeking out the window. Pretty rats too.

And the best part about them, they are cheap! I got those at a thrift store for $.25 cents. I tried a wooden one once, but it got gross too fast. These plastic ones, I can just wash off in the sink. I also have a big igloo, but that is reserved for baby nests. None of the rats will use it for sleeping, just for having babies in. :crazy02: :crazy02: It's like the nursery I guess.
