Anyone here have any experience using ionizers (or other air filtering/purifying devices) around snakes?

Are they safe for the lil guy's single lung to handle? Or, if not safe per-se, hopefully less unsafe than the second hand smoke I'd like to remove.

I'm considering buying one since my new downstairs neighbor has quite the smoking habit. Indoor by vent or outdoor by window, the scent gets into my apartment.

On a related note, does anyone have any experience having that conversation with a new neighbor? I'm not interested in asking him to quit or even limit his smoking (it's only an irritant to me at this point, so there's no point in spreading the irritation around), but I do wonder if I could encourage him to use an air purifier... Alternately, I don't mind filtering my air so long as it's effective (and not a bigger problem for the snake).
 
We have an air purifier running in the room with our snake. Honestly it never occurred to me that it was a possible issue. It's basically just a fan. We keep them going in all the bedrooms due to allergies. I don't ever turn the ionizer on although I've read conflicting things about how much ozone they really tend to produce so it may not be an issue. I don't know if it would be necessary to use it to help with cigarette smoke though. It probably depends on the quality of the filter.

I can sympathize though as we once had a similar downstairs neighbor when we lived in an apartment years ago. It never hurts to have a talk about it. Ours tried to be polite, but honestly, I think she just really couldn't understand why it was an issue since she couldn't smell or be bothered by it.
 
I also hate second hand smoke, It bothers my allergies worse then all the animals i own, It was so bad when my husband smoked that i made him smoke on the back porch. He Quit when my daughter was born . I would have a gentle conversation with the neighbor, and even offer him an air purifier for his living room , some are quite inexpensive and he might not realize it is a problem for you. Hope it gets better soon.

I have an eco quest ionizer and I love it. With 2 dogs (a lab and a chow), 3 cats, 3 dragons (2 bearded and 1 green water) and now a cornsnake too, I cannot imagine my home without one. Its never been a problem for the dragons and ive had them awhile.
