Iris tubs

kimbyra

cornsnake addict
I was thinking about getting a couple of big Iris tubs at Office Depot. Never having used tubs, I'm a little nervous about their security. Has anyone ever had an escape from an Iris tub?
Thanks!

I use Iris tubs with lids for several of my corns and never had one escape. I do put three small binder clips on each side of the lid (yes that is a pain).

I know I've seen someone in the past post that binder clips did not keep their snake(s) in, but I've never had a problem using them on my Iris tubs.

I've never used Iris tubs. I know I've heard some people on here say they use/have used them.
My only comment is that if you search long enough you will inevitably find someone who has had escapes from brand 'x' tubs or brand 'y' tubs etc etc...It's all a matter of how you use them and what lengths you go to in preventing escapes.
I use sterilites. The same sterilites that I have heard of many people say they have had escapes from. Luckily, to date, I've not had one escape. Mainly because I usually don't use the lids with them (which have been identified as a major escape route) and when I do use lids I clamp them with many binder clips. Many people have vivs made of solid glass with lids made of metal and wire mesh with metal clips and still have escapes. I think the best you can do is to examine the tubs (and lids if you will be using them) and try to identify any potential weaknesses before you put the snakes in so that you can correct the problems before you have a missing snake.

Hope that was somewhat helpful. :)
