i have two zoo med repti-temp reheostats im using for akaha and luna (and the con im getting in a few days tank. I went out and got another for the spotted python im getting. get around to hooking it up few days later and it dosent work right, so I was like ok whatever I'll go exchange it. I went and exchanged and listened to the stupid casheer blab on about cats then finally get home and guess what. This one dosent work either!! It is the wierdest thing! it works (kinda it gets a little brighter then darker ancd switches a couple times (the light i used to test it)) then as you turn it up it starts flickering a little then when you put it on as high as it will go it just shuts off!! I'm getting fusrtared with this :angry01: My other two are pefect I never have any problems. This is just really really wierd haha

has anyone else had problems with this or does zoo med hate me?

Never heard of a problem with the those...heard of a similar problem with some of the CHEs. I personally never had a problem with any of their products,however, from what I have heard, when you get one bad one, it seems like the whole batch is faulty. The exchange game seems to be common, so I suggest going to another store and seeing if one from a different batch might be useful. I do understand though that they have good customer service and make things right (overly right, from what I understand) when one of their customers has a problem....I suggest a friendly letter to them asking why you are having this trouble with their products and explanation of what is wrong may take care of it for you. I know you are searching to see if others have similar problems and there is nothing wrong with that, but along with posting on forums, it is good business to contact the company (whether a product like this or a snake you buy) and make them aware of the problem and seeing what they will do with it. Give them a chance to make things right before their name starts to be tossed around in a horrible manner. (again, not saying that is what you are doing, but sooner or later this thread will (would have) turned into a bash Zoo Med thread...it is the nature of the beast, lol). Take care and hope you get it worked out...I have 3 of those and they all have worked fine for months! Good luck.
 
Have you checked it in other outlets? I would recomend checking it with known good heat pad and known good outlet.
 
This may be a stupid question but did you try a different bulb with either one of them?

The light on the Zoomed thermostats is an led they are either on or off there is no dim flicker inside the led its self
 
I have Zoo Med UTH's & the heat adjustment cords, so far no problems. But its only been 4mths. *fingers crossed*

Sorry your having problems. Hope you get it resolved soon! I know how frustrating it must be & time consuming!

same here mine have been totally wonderful but i think it just off that the past two ive gotten are screwey. Crudd, I'm getting the snake on saturday so I have to have it working by then and the store i got it is the onlyy place ive seen it ever and I cant order anything online :[ im sure ill figure something out. I think Ill send them a letter letting them know. Thanks for the advice :]
 
ive tried 3 different deffinally working lights in 2 different fixtures and ive also tried 3 different outlets there is nothing left that could be wrong then the reheostat
 
You could likely get it at petco and if they don't have it at your local store they will order it in for you.
 
petsmart is the only one who carries it out of the petco, petsmart, and local store Seaworld Pet Center thats around here :[
I think I might call Jen and ask if the store she works at sells them in NH.
I'll work something out :]
 
Even if you get one at petco (our petco does not sell them...figure that..) but even if you get another one or get it replaced, send an email or a call to Zoo Med and see what they say or what they do..that is where you see the real truth to a company.
 
Well I had the Zoo med rheostat as well when I first started and it never worked for me..So I went to the Zoo-med thermostat and that is the best thermostat I have ever seen...temps are always nice and constant..flexing a 2 or 3 degrees below 81..so it's actually quite perfect..I would say go with the thermostat, the rheostat does not that great from my experience.. :shrugs:
 
I'm upgrading every one soon to a thermostat I dont have the money to do it right now but I will in about a month or so. The rheostats works pretty well for me but it would be nice not to have to constantly check the temp and adjust it.

the problem i have been haveing with mine is it doesnt dimm enough. at the lowest setting the tank willl still get to 95
 
that why i just switched to a thermo stat. The only thing you really can do it turn it off and on over and over again lol
