I need a horse. My wife says I have too many corns and can't get any more until she gets a horse. Therefore, I need a horse the size of a black lab (the yard isn't that big after all). Anyone...?

How about a miniature or a small pony? And while you're at it, can I place an order with you for one? Horse that is? *ducks and runs from hubby* I've been waiting for a horse for over 8 yrs...

Although, I really don't think 19 snakes is all that many, but then... I've got considerably more then that right now... lol

Def. go with mini pony's... surprise her! Or just be nice and get her the horse she wants... as to your other question...
NO! 19 is not enough!!!

Well, consider your options, Stop at 19 snakes.

Or figure out if you can afford the horse she wants, then the boarding fees, riding lessons (you know she will want some), Truck, HorseTrailer... HAY

Good luck with that one. I grew up with horses and will have some again one day. My parents still have them, they are expensive!

You should see the small areas people keep horses in down in Florida. Seriously, do you have room? It's cool to have a horse at your house if you have somewhere to ride from there, but if you don't have access to trails or whatever, it might be better to board somewhere that does. If you have automatic water, horses can be nearly as self-sufficient as snakes for leaving for short trips.

If your wife wants a horse, she isn't going to settle for a pony or mini. That'd be like you saying you want more snakes and her giving you a box of nightcrawlers.

if your looking for a horse to ride. they do need a bit of room. Also horses are Herd animals. you might want too look in too getting a pony as a play mate. pony's and horses often need the same space. a acre for running room or larger. but if you don't have the room. look up riding trails or woods near you. as long as you can trailer them too the place attest every few weeks. So you can take them out for a ride. i don't see a Problem.

As for a pony and you want to ride. To even think about riding a pony.. i would say no. you can hurt there spine. if your on the smaller size. look if too a pony mix. a horse/pony. (Yup they have them) or a "polo pony size (14.3 - 15.3 hands)" there Bigger in size also Welsh Pony.

But if your looking to ride. i really go with a horse over (14.2 hands) hope it helps.if you need anymore help just ask.

19 corn snakes. such a small small number.

You could probably saddle up my black Lab, but the only direction he'll go is to the smell of birds and female dogs.

And he only knows one speed. Fast.

jazz

Here you go, get her one of these..
I hear they are a nice friendly pony.

Depending on her hair color you could get her a great dane and tell her it's a horse . . . :sidestep: Of course it would probably defeat the purpose as they need quite a bit of room too . . . but it sounded funny at the time I thought of it. :shrugs:

Locate a local equine boarding facility and then buy your wife the horse of her dreams. Remember, you get to spend an equivalent amount on snakes. You'll be able to buy a a couple of dozen snakes a year for the next 20 years for what she will spend on a horse in a year. In fact, you should be able to buy a new ride as well.

I say everyone who owns any type of animal should have even numbers & 19 just isn't enough! One more for you & 2 ponies for her...lol :dancer:

Add up the value of your snake collection, and tell her she can get a horse that costs that much. If she goes over, you get to get the extra value in snakes.

And as a woman, I'm warning you to beware of the eyes and the "sad face" during this conversation. Or else she'll tear you apart.

The compromise we have is that after the breeding plans kick in (Okees in '08, Ultramel Bloodred in '09, Hypo Plasmas started in '07, Ghost Bloodred in '09, and a few stripe projects to start in '09), she will use any snake money not re-invested in snakes to buy a horse. By then, I should have about 50 corns. But that should be a few years since I only hatched 1 clutch this year.
