Is it really bad to handle ....

after 24 hours of feeding....He is going to the top of the cage as he does when he wants out. He hates going back in after a handle. Thoughts?

Maybe he's just looking for somewhere even cozier to digest? Everybody else has already answered the factual question part & I'm too new to cornsnakes to answer it of my own knowledge (I could say "Kathy Love & Don Soderberg say..."). But I think it's interesting your little one wants OUT after a meal, so I am wondering if maybe yet another hiding place is in order. Humphrey sometimes wants not the warm side hide and not the cool side hide but IN THE MIDDLE the day after eating, so I put some fake greenery in the middle. Voila! Humphrey now has the hide "he" wants.

Or maybe your little one likes to be up high? Somebody here has a picture of a viv with a toilet paper roll suspended up high & the snake is hanging out in it looking quite content.

Or maybe, and now I am anthropomorphizing like crazy, the attraction of being out is something that is warm and soft and not substrate, ie, the surface of your hands, and your little one would like a little tiny beanbag to lie on to be comfortable & digest? This is way too out there, I know, but I think Humphrey enjoys the surface texture + 95F temperature of human skin, and maybe your snake does too.

OK, I have clearly proved I am flaky, but it's interesting stuff to think about.

Love the name of your snake. Thanks for the info. Im going to get him some cool stuff on Saturday (payday) He would get stuck in a tp roll. He is pretty big.5ft long and not exactly skinny. I did get some fake grass yesterday and he thinks it's pretty cool :) It's been 48 hours since his feed. I think I will give him another 24. I just miss him

What size mouse are you feeding him if he's an adult? He should be eating adult med. mice so maybe the food item was to small?

I know you already got some good answers, but my usual rule of thumb is that I don't handle after feeding until I see some poo in the viv. That way I know he's done digesting. That's probably a little over-cautious, but better safe than sorry!
