i had coconut bedding in my cage and but i put sand in it and the sand is keeping the temp better but my baby cant burrow and it dpesnt seem like she wants to and shes more active now should i keep the sand cuz im trying new bedding each time to see what she likes better, i also got a big log in there now and shes clibing and this is the most i ever seen her out. but i have a heating pad thats stick on the bottong outside off the cage is that going to get the sand to hot? and is she more active cuz she just ate or what caused the sudden change in her never being active to now always being active

i had another question what should i do if the power goes out to, when the power goes out its out atleast a weekand we dont have a generator
 
Sand is not a good substrate for corns. If they ingest it, it could lead to impaction and even death.
 
sorry i posted thqt before i was done. what is the best thing for a cornsnake then cuz i want something that wont hurt her and looks good and feels good for her but most of all i want her to like it
 
As long as you avoid things like cedar and pine you should be fine. They can be somewhat toxic to corns, especially to hatchlings. Its more humid in the winter than in the summer here so i use aspen then, and cypress in the summer because it retains moisture better.

If your power goes out frequently, you could use an UPS unit, they are are used primarily for computers and other electrical equipment but can also be used for the UTH- you have to calculate the amount of power the UTH uses (this should be on the box) and purchase an UPS that will keep it going for the length of time you need. (they come in different sizes depending on how much power you need and for what length of time) Prices vary, and you might be able to get a used one from someone who is upgrading :)
