Greetings
I have been waiting for my 3.5 year old amel to lay eggs for quite some time. She and my male have been housed together, and were first observed :dancer:ing Feb 7th. He chased her around quite a bit after that, and were seen doing their business a number of times after. She shed on March 14th.
I put her into her own space with a breeding box that day. She has spent most of her time in the breeding box, and occasionally in her water dish. We still have no eggs. She does look like she's getting more round. And her scales on the lower half of her body are stretched out - you can see skin between them. She's always been on the skinny side.
I can also say that I was having trouble with temperature in the beginning. She's had regulated heat for the last 2 weeks. I was sure the eggs were coming because she has tramped down all of the medium around the edges of her breeding box, and has had a foul attitude for weeks. She rattles her tail and hisses when we open the box to check on her.
I should also add that she had refused to eat since the 1st of February, but took a small hopper on Wednesday (she's been offered meals every 7 - 10 days).
After all of that, I wonder if I should hold out hope that she will lay eggs or not. Is it still possible? Could she have retained the sperm, and shed again first?
Thanks for the help!
