Is the back okay?

So, I'm designing my big cage unit, and I'm trying to figure out the best way to Attach the flex-watt I'll be using. For design purposes, I can't put it UNDER the tank. I could put it on the end of the tank, but it would get a bit complicated. Would it be alright if I put it on the back of the tank? I know this is hard to understand w/o an image, but... what if I put it All the way over to the edge (let's go with Left) horizontally, about half way up. If my description is TOTALLY confusing, I'll throw something together in paint to show what I mean. :)

x qqqqqqq x
x qqqqqqq x

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

That's generally what I'm talking about. Pretend you're looking at the back of my cage, and the q's are where I plan to put the flex watt

well, IMHO.... should be fine. There really isnt a 'law' that says it Has to be on the bottom. It just needs to be somewhere that the snake can get closer to it if it needs more heat or away if it needs to be cooler. As I said... only my personal opinion but I think it should be fine :) I use back heat on about 30 of mine and a couple tanks have heat lights... so :) I am open to all kinds of ideas so.... take my opinion if you want or maybe wait to see what others think? :)

I don't think it matters to your snakes how you go about providing a temperature gradient.
The only problem I can see is wasted heat = wasted electricity. Some of the heat is near the top and unusable.

If you're planning to mount it on the back wall, then I'd suggest having it as low down and near the floor as possible, as that's where the Corns will be. There doesn't seem to be much point heating the air above where the Corns will be.

I agree it should be on the bottom but if that is impossible as low as you can get it. It is for the snake, if it is up in the air it's wasted.
