Hey guys ( and gals) i was wondering if there is any way to tell when a corn snake is about to strike or bite? Thanks
 
when a snake bites

normally the first third of their bodies will be in the classic S shape, lifted, and poised, they will appear to be agitated, perhaps vibrating the tail.
 
I never been biten by a corn, but I hear they make a S shape with the front part of their bodies. (I've seen pictures of it in the Photo Gallery.) Some buzz their tails and hiss. I think that's when you definitely know when its ready to strike. I've never actually seen this, but I hear about it on this forum. Someone who has a corn do this often can probably give you better advice. Welcome to the forum.
 
Thanks. They shake thier tails? I though rattlesnakes only did that? when they bite how much does it hurt? Thanks for the welcome.
 
Yep they buzz their tails and it makes a really cute buzzing sound.

Apparently hatchling bites don't hurt at all and bigger snakes' bites aren't anything to hysterically cry about either.
 
ive been bitten

ive been bitten by my adult female and it does not hurt mosquito bites bother me more than my corns bites ......... thats how i feel ........
 
MY ORIGIONAL CORN BIT ME ALOT WHEN SHE WAS A HATCHLING. MY NEW UPPERKEYS BITES ME ALOT. THEY GO INTO AN S SHAPE WITH THE TOP HALF OF THEIR BODIES BUT THEY CONSTANTLY WAVE THE SECOND HALF AROUND ALOT.
