I bought a tank stand from Petsmart but it turns out it can only hold one tank..I thought it was able to hold 2..So now it's only taking up space..I'm going to be returning it but here is my question..

Can I put one tank on top of another? Both UTH's are on the bottom of the tanks and are on the same side..I know the heat from the UTH from the tank on top might blow down into the tank on the bottom but there is no way the snake will be able to touch the UTH..The screen would be blocking it and the little stick on lifts that come with the UTH when you buy it would keep the UTH from directly being on the screen..The only thing that I am a little unsure of is that the heat might float down into the bottom tank..Is this a bad issue? Will this happen or am I incorrect? Has anyone done this before? I plan having the 2 tanks on top of one another on the main table in the room..This way me and my boyfriend have a table again to set stuff on and the snakes aren't taking up so much room..Well hope to hear from everyone and their thoughts soon..Thanks :0) :grin01:
 
If you have one tank ontop of the other how are you going to get at the one on the bottom?

The tank on the bottom should have air circulating.
 
for 27 bucks at Target they sell steel kitchen shelving i use one and it holds 3 20-30 gal tanks.

Great investment for $27 if you ask me.
 
i am not sure what the link is but there is a page on this forum that shows you how to make a 2 story large viv for less than $100. its dead easy to follow as it is pictured step by step.

The bigger problem is humidity. If you stack one tank on top of the other, the lower tank can't exhaust excess moisture. I had the same problem last summer, and there is a way to do it: stack the top tank across the bottom tank, like crossed sticks. It gives enough support to the top tank while letting the bottom tank breath. It's a short term solution at best.
 
Also, theres the case of air circulation. if you have the tanks directly on top of each other, the bottom one will have a sor os seal to it that wont allow fresh air to go into it. As far as heat driting down, I dont think so seeing as heat rises.
 
If you have a tank without a mesh top (And front opening) however it's not going to make much difference putting something on top of it...and if that's the case, you might have to lower the temperature of the lower UTH by a couple of degrees (Probably not much), as although heat rises it will still travel down through the material touching the heat mat.
