Is this egg fertile?

we have a total of 7 healthy fertile eggs out now. She still has a few in her belly but there are 3 still in there. She is definatly guarding them i can tell. She is wrapped around them and put her tail over the whole pile.

I've read that higher incubation temps can cause deformities like kinked spines, so when we incubated our eggs, we kept the dial right at 80ºF. They hatched less than three months later (I can't remember exactly when the female laid them) perfectly with no defects whatsoever. And it was a 100% hatching.

Some clutches have hatched fine incubated at 86ºF; some babies incubated at 83ºF have had kinked spines. It probably depends on the clutch and how sensitive they are to heat

Good luck with the clutch!

lol i dont want anything to happen to my babies so i lowered the temp to 82. It was kinda wierd and i was wondering if this is normal. Ok when i took the eggs out of the tank ( not all of them) and put them in the tupperware incubator thing they slightly caved a little bit but then a few hours later they plumped back up ... is that ok? Also a couple of them had clearish looking spots on them when i took them out but then after a about a day they are starting to go away and turn white. Is it ok that they are still kinda soft .... not like super soft. They feel very filled in kinda like a water ballon. Oh i finally got a picture of the mommy guarding her eggs! She is really light colored ... kinda pinkish because she is about to shed soon. You can see the dad in the upper left hand corner. Most of the eggs in that picture are out and in the incubator.

They look like perfectly healthy eggs to me- right shape, size and colour. If you have the CSM read the incubating part a couple of times to get an idea of what to do and how they should look etc.

I dont have The Corn Snake Manual. But i do have a book called Keeping and Breeding Corn Snakes by Michael J. McEachern.

The eggs plumping up means that they got re-humidified and they are fine now.
From the pics the eggs look great. What a handsome daddy and beautiful mommy. THey are both amels, right?
I know what book you are talking about but IMO the CSM is 100 times better. So if you can, buy it! (I can't remember how many times I've recommended this book to people. I'm beginning to get tired of sounding like an advertisement! ;))

well now all of the eggs are starting to harden up. One of them is getting soft and caved in. Im guessing this one is non fertile too? Is the hardening normal? EDIT: i noticed that happens when the temp is kinda low .... in the low 80's... but when i bring the temp is they start ot get softer. Whats a good humidity level?
