I finally had a successful time handling the snake last night. He was completely done shedding and hadnt eaten in about 4 days so I decided it was a good time. I got him out with his hide and all and he didnt come out, but i slowly began to touch him and then gently pulled him out. He was slightly scared at first but not much. He seemed much more comfortable than he had been up to that point since we got him. I had him out for about 45 minutes and he was just going all over my hands and my shirt. I was very pleased because for a while it seemed he really just didnt want to be bothered at all. He did tag me once and drew a bit of blood but i barely felt a thing. I moved to quick and scared him. Even after that though he was very calm and oontinued to work his way around.

45 minutes may be a little too long for him at this stage, I personally would try 'little & often', but hey who am I too say what's best for the little guy...as long as he appeared happy and relaxed then maybe 45 mins is ok.
I know this is a really stupid question, but so many people I know who handle their corns for the first time forget in their excitement to thoroughly clean their hands before picking up their baby, I take it you didn't make that mistake?

No harm done whats the use of being nice to me if I'm killing my snake or something. Say whatever has to be said. As far as cleaning my hands first I did, but not because I knew I was supposed to. I had friends over earlier in the day and after cleaning up i washed my hands. I didn't know i had to before handling the snake, but now I do. Also I only kept him out for long because he rarely ever comes out and at that pace I would only get him out a few minutes a week. I wouldve put him away earlier had i thought he was stressing or anything though. He seemed quite calm and his breathing looked very relaxed which before he was always breathing very hard and fast when i came near so it looks like hes finally getting comfortable with me and i think its great.
