UK Petshops
Because the subject of UK petstores has been raised in this thread, there is a incident that I witnessed some time ago, and I feel I should share it with you all.
In one of our larger petstores, a potential customer asked to see and handle a cornsnake prior to purchase. The assistant held the snake's head down firmly with a stick and grabbed it just behind the head as one might do with a more dangerous or venemous snake. No attemp was made to support the body weight in any way. I was appaled at this treatment to such a docile creature. I did make some comment at the time but was more or less told to mind my own business.
It makes me wonder what kind of training young staff are given in what still is one of the major petstores in the UK.
I would be interested to know if anyone alse has a true horror story to tell such as this.
Sorry Dean, I know this is taking away from your original post, but if you follow The Cornsnake Manual you won't go far wrong, and you will have a happy and healthy snake for many years to come.
Enjoy.
