I voted for newspaper, but I will assume you mean a shredded paper product like the "reclaimed wood pulp waste" CareFresh.....not actual newspaper.

Well, at the moment I use Calci-Sand for my little viv but when my set of three vivs has been finished I'll be using aspen because people just keep on talking about how great it is. I voted for aspen.

Hatchlings are all on paper towels, yearlings are on aspen & recently ive switched my adults from aspen to paper towels. After 2 months of the adults on paper towels, Im going back to aspen.

Could someone point me to where I could see a picture of Aspen? What is it, shredded wood? Me curious now..

Go to the photos and look at my pic titled "02 Ghost" and that will show you what Aspen bedding looks like. :)

Ahhh ok! The local pet store here has either a reptibark type substrate or the Carefresh paper product. I'm going to do some pricing....I have six tanks to clean and replenish now.

Alicia - Very nice looking Ghost Corn in that pic!!

It won't let me vote but I use Aspen. I used to use newspaper but i got sick of changing all of it out whenever a snake pooped. Now i just spot clean with the Aspen and change it every two weeks.

I've used paper towels, newspaper, calci sand (for gecko), reptibark, and aspen.. Out of all of them I give aspen 3 thumbs up (if i had three)..

+Looks
+Price
+Quantity
+Smell
+Burrowing Ability
+Safe

-Falls out everywhere if you aren't careful,lol.. I have a cage door that opens as the entire side of my enclosure, after a week i figured out i needed to put a lip on the cage to stop that problem though..

Well maybe we can force this to 10-12 pages, with a good debate on substrate. As for my snakes some love aspen and others like paper towel, but then I do have the odd one who insists on CareFresh.

Nah. For that to happen, the question would need to be phrased along the lines of "Off what substrate should I feed my cohabitated snakes? (They're a female hatchling and a male adult, btw.....) :grin01:

jazz

Carefresh maybe.

If you want to pay $18 a bail for it at the pet store.

I use paper towels. I used to use Aspen until I heard of the threat of impaction and decided it is better safe than sorry.

Nothing is 100% safe. I looked around and I can't find it, but I know I read a few months ago about some guy's python who ingested an entire blanket that its food was lying on. It's not that much of a stretch to think that a corn could ingest a paper towel if the mouse or rat gets stuck to it
