:dancer: Im glad my new tank is finnished! and ive got my 2new hatchlings in there whith my 2 older ones. But canibalisem only happens when they are fed togeter or under fed I HEAR, but i read the Forums abuot canibalism, but still not sure! CAN SOME1 GIVE ME MORE INFO PLEASE!!!! :shrugs:

There is always a possibility of one snake eating the other snake. Even if you feed in separate containers. The scent from the rodent can linger on the snake that has just fed. There is no fool proof way of keeping multiple snakes in the same enclosure! Just something to think about.

Thanks something to think about! (the scent) But if my snakes are fed every 3day and they are "full" they wont try to eat each other or is there still the possibility of trying?

Some corns are never full, they will feed at every opportunity. The only time I have seen snakes kept together with any success is with clutch mates. I know some breeders are pressed for space but IMO better safe than sorry
Peace
Paul

If you chose to keep multiple corns together, there is always the possibility, regardless of feeding routines. Don't say we haven't warned you.

That's why they *always* have to be fed seperately. Not just each on one side of the viv.

haha jicin very funny (hense the sarcasm there)

okay now i always thought my 2 girlies who have lived together for nearly 3 years were in a little protective bubble and no harm to come to either of them, well in my stupidity i nearly lost one of them just the other night, i had fed both of them either end of my 5 ft viv, only poppy made a bit of mess and had blood on her face, before me or my dad could do anything diaga went zooming over there and struck at poppys face. now she had missed poppy but if she hadnt who knows what could have happened. do not risk it. i have risked it before and they are now all living alone.
now i was always one of these peeps that thought housing more than one snake together was okay, and i have had numerous heated debates with others on this forum about it too, but i had proved myself wrong, the others were right all along. experience goes an awful long way and for some peeps they have to experience it before they believe anything from others, thats not the case, i put my little dosile poppy at a big risk and although she didnt get hurt, i wouldnt even wanna think of what could have been.
better to be safe than sorry.

This just happened to her recently

I think Missy is try to suggest that even when fed seperately, cannibalism is still a risk.

THANK YOU ALL!! After this I am ceeping my snakes seperate. MY big male in his viv and my 4 hatchlings and my 2 yearling with them untill i can get or make a nother viv! thanks again u all!!

cav, thats just it.
but i made the huge mistake of actually feeding them up either end of the viv.

madaboutcorns ~ i think ive just mis-read your post.
your keeping your big male, 4 hatchlings and 2 yearlings all together till you can get or make another viv????

if thats the case its not soon enough, it would have to be done asap.
you would now be risking early breeding, which in this case could lead to egg-binding or even death becaise of egg-bound snakes. not trying to freak you out here just simply telling you how it can be. ive experienced egg-binding twice now and its not pleasant let me put it that way.
good luck
