More is better...
I just got my new Corn Snakes today. I got them from Rich. I got a pair of Okeetee and a female "Frosted" Candy Cane. They are all very nice looking. The two Okeetees have been pretty active exploring their new homes. The each even took a pinkie. The Candy Cane is more reserved. I think she must be like me and doesn't like to travel :) I will let her get used to her new home and then in a day or 2 offer a pinkie.

These are the first snakes that i have owned since I was a kid, about 30 years ago. Then, I had wild caught garter snakes. I am really excited to add these babies to my household. I aslo have 3 dogs, a cat, 12 birds(from a Macaw to finches) and a young Chinese Water Dragon. I guess you can tell I like "animals".

Since I have 4 reptiles that are going to be eating mice, I decided to get some for breeding. I am already breeding crickets and mealworms (although that will not last too long since my Dragon is almost to the point where he can take pinkies. Probably another couple of months and they will all be on pinkies.

Just in case you were wondering, they all have seperate tanks. I plan to only put the Okeetees together for breeding when the time comes. I didn't want to take any chances of cannibalism which I recently found out can sometimes happen.

I was also interested in knowing if anyone could recommend a good book on the care of Corn Snakes handling all aspects from habitat to medicine to breeding and anything else that a Corn Snake owner would like to have around as a reference "bible". I like to share my experiences with people on groups online, but I also like to have books on the subject also.

Well, That is my great news!!! :crazy02: I am a new father!!!

Take care,

Steven

That book is pretty much a "must have" for every corn owner. It's a fantastic resource, I use mine all the time.

Welcome to the world of Corns

Thank you...

Thank you very much for the info. I just ordered the book along with the Morph Guide...didn't want any grass to grow under my feet :)

I spoke too soon....

I spoke too soon about he Candy Cane. About an hour after I posted, I saw that she ate her first pinkie. Now everyone has had their first meal here.

Just wanted to share.

Steven

Hi Steven. Glad to see another Oregonian new to corns. Hope to see you at some of the shows in the area that are coming up.

Shows in Oregon

Yeah, I am interested in shows in this area. Are there any that you can recommend? I would ppreciate your help.

Thanks,

Steven

I'm new to corns also but I know there is a show down your way in Eugene on Nov 5th and a show in Wilsonville in January. There are also a couple of shows in Hillsboro but not sure when. I'm assuming you haven't found any local breeders in your are since you ordered from Rich. There does not seem to be a lot in this area that I have heard of except for Clint Boyer and he is downsizing his operation. I know he is staying involved with someone in the Salem area but I'm not sure who they are. Maybe Clint might have some input here.
