Have any of you heard about housing corns together is it better to wait until they are the same size or just not at all?

Normally not a good idea to house them together. It has been proven that, although not a common occurrence, one may eat the other. :eek1:
They don't know what they're doing, it's just food. If this were to happen it could be fatal to both snakes. Many do house them together with no ill effects, but why chance it?
 
Yes...kingsnakes are natural snake predators and very frequently in the wild kill and consume snakes twice thier size...so it would be no great stretch for a corn to do the same to an equally sized snake...
 
You can....people will give you many reasons not to...but I got a baby corn from a woman who had a pair of corns that had spent their whole lives together....so it's possible...and cannibalism is improbable...but not impossible...

So...it's up to you....
 
Ok so for now separate them and maybe when they get older and closer to the same size if they are ok with each other but would half of a 55 gallon tank be enough room for them to grow up in or would they need more room to move around in

Was just wondering what to do and how would I know if my snake took something too big. I have a (NEW) hatchling and the store that we got her food at only had rat pinkys so we cut the head off of a mouse fuzzy and gave it to her she took it and got it just past her head now she is not moving unless messed with just don't want her to die or hirt herself please help!?!?!

yeah I'd say it's a bit too big, but she's already swallowed it. Let her be for a few days and if you don't mess with her too much she may be able to digest it. If you handle her she may regurgitate which is harmful to snakes.

For future reference, weigh the snake and base the food items on the weight of the snake. A Hatchling should be eating 3 gram pinkies. I know you didn't have one, but it would have been better to wait a few days and get one than to go ahead and feed her something 3 times as big.
 
Well now the same little one will not eat at all and every time we pick her up she will not curl around our fingers like she use to it's been over two weeks now that she has not eaten any help in this matter from any one will be great thanks

she might be about to shed.

Sometimes a snake will not eat during the shed cycle, and because their skin is old and worn out and they are growing new skin underneath, they can be hesitant to "Coil up" because it's uncomfortable for them.

My snake Rufus just shed about a week ago, and he would not eat at all (for almost 4 weeks) and he would not coil up. Same as what your snake is doing.

Is she Hiding a lot more than normal or spending more time in 1 place? (Another sign of shedding).

You might try offering a "Humid Hide or Humidity Box" and see if she goes for it. Boosting humidity can help with the shedding process if that's what she's going through.
 
We might try that it sounds like it might help we thought she was shedding and we just found a piece of skin in her cage so I'm hoping that is what she is doing. How long can hatchlings go with out eating?

they can go a while. Several weeks. Just make sure the cage is kept clean, fresh water is always available, temperatures are correct, and boost the humidity a bit. (You can mist the cage lightly 1 or 2 times a day) but a Moist Hide Box would be better.

1). Typically, the shed process begins with the snake hiding more than usual.
2). Sometimes they will refuse to eat, but sometimes they will eat.
3). At some point in time the skin will appear dull, wrinkly, loose and you might even see flakes coming loose. (Do not try to peel it off yourself).
4). The eyes will Cloud Up. This is called "going blue" because a snake with dark eyes will appear to be milky blue in color. But if your snake is an albino or has red eyes, they won't necessarily turn blue, they might just look dull.
5). After a few days of being blue, the eyes will clear up and look normal again.
6). The snake will actually shed after all this.

The entire process from start to finish can be anywhere from a few days to several weeks.
 
Well after that info I think she is shedding although my other snake was all too eager to eat her share and her sisters although we did see some flaking from the small one we have taken your advice and made a humid hide and the wife wants to know if you can over feed a snake or will they eventually stop eating

Well just an update the little one "rosalee" was infact not shedding she just passed away today she had not eaten anything and was still very small. We did notice that she had a dark (black) spot under her skin on her belly after she passed we noticed that she had more dark spots and they ran almost the length of her back half of her body still don't know what happened but the wife and myself are kinda upset about it we still have the older one (ruby)
