Justin Bieber has a pet BCI

I was joking anyway. I could not truly care less about the music. I don't like anyone who treats animals as disposable and/or a fashion statement.
They aren't accessories, that's the point.

No one said they were disposable.... Just sellable.. And that Boa is being sold responsibly IMO.....
Like I said earlier... Show me one snake on here being sold as responsibly, with the same provisos as JB's..... I doubt you will find one...
Whether it's right or wrong to sell the snake is besides the point, it's all down to popularity... Just look at members on here who have kept snakes in less than perfect conditions and due to popularity nothing much was said... Shame, but human nature to pick on non entities....

No way. Good for him for finding a responsible way to sell the snake, but...
Showing up to an awards show, literally dressed as a hipster with a baby snake on your arm was nothing more than a publicity stunt inspired by his fanbase on a popular website. Did you know how many "hipster" kids are getting snakes right now??? I just got offered three ball pythons by different people, because htey bought them trying to be cool and now they won't eat/are sick and their "owners" don't want to bother with them anymore.
Just because he found a good way to sell it doesn't mean that makes his motives any less ridiculous. He had the resources and access to a responsible way to sell the snake. If he was still just a poor little kid, that snake would have gone straight to craigslist, you can bet on that.

What does that even mean? All I'm saying is that I think it was irresponsible to get that animal as a status symbol. Arguing that opinion is futile because it will still apply to every other species, bird, mammal or reptile.
I'm glad it's going to a good, responsible owner who has to sign a contract, I already gave him the credit for that because it's more than most people do. It doesn't change what he did in the first place. You can disagree all you want but I still think it was irresponsible.
And Justin Bieber isn't a breeder, so why would that apply to him?

I agree in principle with what you are saying. But why get upset and vilify one person for one snake when we all sell snakes without even asking where they are going....
How do I know what happens to all the snakes I sell every year, I don't... But no one is nailing me for selling them.....
Argue with me all you want, but it won't change my position on this.....

I wasn't arguing. All I did was state my opinion. It has nothing to do with breeders/sellers or whatever and only has to do with why he, as an individual, got the snake in the first place.
I volunteer at animal rescues and have seen first hand the consequences of getting any animal for the purpose of looking cool. The fault does not lie with breeders or sellers of snakes, it lies, in this case, with the customer, and solely the customer. Good for him for paying someone to find his snake a good home. Not cool why he got it though, and definitely not cool that he just got bored with it and got rid of it, you know? That's all I'm saying.

Like he was the first to use a snake as an accessory......

Look, seriously, it has nothing to do with who the individual is. Me not liking someone's music has nothing to do with whether or not I think they can care for an animal or not. It seriously annoyed me that he showed up to an award show in costume. I don't get it. I'm never going to think it's a good idea for someone to get a pet as a fashion accessory, whether it's a snake or a chihuahua.
I don't know what you're arguing exactly at this point.

I really don't care what is said in an ad people are going to try and buy it if they want it. We can say "only to a good home" in the ad but who is going to admit they are a bad home? A good person who does care about their snakes will look into their potential homes. I know I have been questioned when buying and snake and I have questioned others and have even said I am sorry but I don't feel this is going to be a good fit. The fact it says it in the ad means nothing to me. So they sign a statement saying it is a good home but is anyone really going to follow up on that. I do on my snakes. Hopefully again for the sake of the snake they do.

I am not trashing him as an artist, person or pet owner. The only thing I have said is I hope it gets a good home. The likely hood based on the way it is being re-homed is slim so hopefully they will follow up on the home and not just ship the snake out and never think about it again.

I never said he was the devil. You can defend him all you want. I'm done with this conversation because there was never supposed to be an argument anyway.
I made a joke and you picked a fight with me. That is the point.

So they sign a statement saying it is a good home but is anyone really going to follow up on that. I do on my snakes.
Ummm... You do it seems.....
Special are you or is everyone else not as caring as you...
Now the media won't pick up on you if you didn't... But there is a good chance they will on this to sell red tops.... Just a thought...

Why are you attacking people personally? I am not saying I am perfect but you have basically said that no one on here cares about their snakes and finding good homes because it doesn't say it in the ad. When that is just not true.

Like legitimatehypnotist said there really is no need for an argument here and I am not sure why you are making it into one. I don't think it is worth the time or the stress level personally.

Just trying to point out that none of you knows JB's intentions or motives either.... But it doesn't stop people opinionating about him and his motives does it.....
I thought it was fair game as he won't come here and defend his stance..... ;)

I do play the devils advocate... It's under my name as a calibration for opinions....

Oh Poor thing. I really hope a reptile person gets the snake.

I read that and I am thinking that it is a generic animal auction script.

Based on the verbiage I am sure he didn't, or someone for him, write it. I am sure that is something that the auction website says they have to put up. I will have to look and see if there are any other animals up for auction.

Nothing I said here attacked him as a person. And playing devil advocate doesn't require attacking or belittling someone else.

But you said....

"So they sign a statement saying it is a good home but is anyone really going to follow up on that. I do on my snakes."

I Just pointed out that you do and you assume that no one else does...
No Attack... Just asking what makes you special.

well i don't mean to anger anyone with what i'm about to say but just something i noticed...he shows up with the snake at a very publicized event, obviously he knew he was going to get put in the "news" for it. Then lets see...do some calculations...roughly 2 months later he's selling the snake for charity. Its obvious what his intentions were. He wanted to make it publicly known that he "owned" a snake so that months later he could sell it for yet more publicity. To be honest I've never heard of him owning a snake before now and given that it's a young snake, he's obviously not owned it long. It all just for publicity.

And I completely agree with legitimatehypnotist, when she said, "Showing up to an awards show, literally dressed as a hipster with a baby snake on your arm was nothing more than a publicity stunt inspired by his fanbase on a popular website. Did you know how many "hipster" kids are getting snakes right now??? While he's creating customers for the business, we can't guarantee that the people who are buying the snakes just because he's got one are going to take good care of them, no one can guarantee that anyone who buys a snake is going to take good care of it but regardless he's probably inadvertently creating bad lives for hundreds of snakes. And that's why I dislike him for doing these things.

Once again just my opinion. No one take any offense to it....please.
